GHIT 0371: Tim Burr – Our First Member of the Sorry For Party Racing Team
One of the fun things about meeting someone on the Sorry For Party team for the first time is whether they are in their race team regalia or in civilian clothes. We have found that often we have met the same person twice without knowing it. Tim Burr is no exception. We finally placed the name and the face at the spring PittRace event and then he joined us for the Thompson event while racing with Jeremy’s El Jeffe Trophy Truck team. This episode gave us an opportunity to get to know Tim a bit better and how he has progressed to this point in racing and life. A great episode with a great person. In addition, during this episode, we go into the history of the Sorry For Party team, What to do and what not to do or look out for as an arrive and drive driver, as well as an in seat review of both the El Jeffe Trophy Truck and the 3PM Cheaties Cressida. And then we begin to make a great plan.

GHIT 0089: Top 10 List of Things We Learned From Racing
Garage Heroes In Training
01/30/20 • 45 min
For this shorter episode of our podcast we thought it would be helpful and fun to go over our individual lists of the top ten things we have learned in our first two years of low budget endurance racing. We also had a few items added in from Kate as well as several thoughts from our Facebook and Instagram accounts. In addition to our top ten list, highlights include:
1) If its worth doing, it worth overdoing, again. 2) Bill’s math side is affecting his line and apex visualization and target, still 3) Jen needs to work on her subtlety 4) Vicki is confused with what racing means, but refers to it assuming she is addressing new drivers 5) We review our top choices for low cost endurance tires and brakes at this point 6) Square tires are not desirable 7) Vicki and Bill discuss tire pressure and its potential effects on traction and grip and car handling 8) Bill pretends to be Richard Dawson 9) Black flags are not atta boys or girls 10) Jen learns about blips and has homework for the morning 11) Jen’s cat makes an appearance by rubbing on the microphone and says hi 12) Alan apparently makes an appearance via Jen 13) We talk about the video Mental said not to talk about 14) Another discussion on the difference between front wheel drive and rear wheel drive cars 15) Jim makes another drop in appearance 16) Matt F, Randy B, Roger M, Jason H, and James M were kind enough to add a few items to our lists 17) Purple mist with sparkly pop rocks It seems like the only things we learned were from the Three Pedal Mafia. Hopefully, you can find a team willing to help mentor you early in your racing team’s growth to assist you. DwD 0440: Antilock Braking Systems (ABS) On Track
On this episode of Dominating with Dawson, Blake fills in for Ben and we discuss the proper use of ABS systems on a race track. There are several advantages to using ABS on track, especially when a track is wet, but there are also a few things to be aware of and even potentially better ways to drive than using the ABS system. Ben does make a guest appearance at the end to add to the discussion, so you still get your does of the Dominator.

DwD 0433: Turbo Charger vs a Super Charger
On this week’s Dominating with Dawson, Ben and Bill go into what the differences are between a turbocharger and a super charger. We have received a few emails recently and seen some posts on the various social medias that indicate at least a few people seem to be confused about each and how they work. We thought we would take a shot at going into some of the key differences between each, especially pertaining to endurance racing. So on an episode with two of the non-mechanicals talking, we go into a mechanical topic. What could go wrong?

DwD 0436: Blind Corners
One of the things that a lot of beginners have trouble with is when they are approaching a corner of the track that does not allow the driver to see around the corner. While this can be disconcerting, this should not be a big deal for you on track. Ben offers up some great advice on dealing with blind corners and starts with the ever important topic of the safety of going through blind corners. We hope this helps you at you next rack event.

DwD 0438: Fuel Conservation Methods
When endurance racing, the race can often be won or lost by the pit stop strategy and sometimes the race breaks down in such a way that your team can be a few laps short from what is needed to avoid another pit stop and that can make or break the victory. Ben and Bill discuss some of their favorite ways to save a little gas and extend the number of laps and maybe sneak out a victory when you may not be the fastest in your class.

GHIT 0441: Skye Romanoff - On Rally Cross and Beyond
Skye Romanoff has raced in a variety of disciplines and has promoted Rally Cross in California and nationwide. She has recently been invited by the Fern GP team for some test days in England (at Silverstone, how cool is that), with the potential of of driving driving in their Formula 3 cars in the future. If you aren't familiar with Rally Cross, this is a great introduction and we are already looking for a nearby event this summer. In addition, Vicki and Skye bond over their shared enjoyment and love for working on their cars.
Skye also has perhaps the best answer we have ever had to the most memorable car breakdown.

DwD 0442: Track Markers – Their Use and Options
On this episode of Dominating with Dawson, we go into how to determine what markers to use when on track and some of our personal preferences for selecting markers. Initially, Ben goes into the way that he prepares for an upcoming track and how he uses this preparation to get his markers ahead of even arriving at the track. The importance of markers can vary depending on the type of driver that you are, but even the most “feel” oriented driver can always use track markers to gain additional speed and comfort when in track, especially a new to them track.

GHiT 0564: Johan Schwartz – All About Racing and Car Control
We loved our car control clinic at CMP a few weeks ago and Johan Schwartz was kind enough to come onto the podcast this week. During the episode, we talk about a lot of Johan’s past and how he has progressed to this point in his racing career. We also talk about his car control clinic which was very helpful to us and well worth the trip. Johan also indulges us in going through each of his three World Records in drifting and we have a looooong way to go to catch him. Lol.
