Turning pain into power
09/20/21 • 11 min
Sometimes life can be difficult and there is no denying it. A great source of comfort to us in the midst of life's challenges is this notion that one day we will be able to look back and find the valuable lesson that was hiding in the middle of it all. But why do we have to wait to find it? Is it possible for us to identify the learnings and be going through hell at the same time? I think it is. I also think that the sooner we can come to terms with a bad situation, the better placed we are to utilise the discomfort it's caused and convert that into power. It's time that we start growing out of the pain, before it overcomes us.

Quit being a people pleaser
No one likes to admit they are a people pleaser but many of us are. If you are a woman, I can pretty much guarantee that you will be so good at people pleasing that it should be on your CV. Why? Because we are a product of the society within which we were raised and women are, and have always been, raised to make sure everyone else is happy, often at their own personal expense. It doesn't need to be this way. In fact, it is better if it's not. People pleasing isn't kindness or compassion, it's lacking emotional independence and self-worth. So let's have a chat about how to get past it.

How to stop comparing yourself to others
Comparison is the thief of joy! So why do we do it to ourselves?! It is human nature to compare yourself to others, but we can all admit that we are too familiar with that feeling of desperate comparison that leaves us feeling threatened, insecure and jealous. Too much comparison is not good for us. Obsessive comparison is terrible for us. So how do we get past it? When it's so engrained in us, is it even possible to overcome it? Maybe not, but hopefully this episode gives you some tips that you can use to practice self-awareness, hold yourself accountable and redirect all of your energy which is being spent on feeling unworthy towards achieving your goals and growing into the woman you are supposed to be.
