As I was reading this past week on this subject of gratitude, I came across a passage that says, “In everthying give thanks for this is the will of God”. I believe that my life is a gift from God. All that I have and all that comes from Him.
After reading this, it got me thinking that maybe there is more to it than just recognizing and acknowledging the source of all our blessings. Maybe this is just part of it, and God, or the universe, whichever higher power you believe in, sees the bigger picture for us when it comes to being thankful and developing gratitude.
In this episode I discuss different studies that have shown the bigger picture of how intentionally expressing gratitude can not only benefit us, but change us. And this is what I think the bigger picture is.
Studies have shown that when we are practice intentional gratitude, we feel better mentally and emotionally, we see the world and others around us in a much more positive way, we tend to have better physical health, stronger relationships, and better resilience.
I will share 4 things with you that have helped me in becoming more intentionally grateful.

I had the privilege of being interviewed by Heather Rackham, fellow Life Coach and owner of the Latter-Day Saint Life Coach Directory. This episode can also be heard here: https://ldslifecoaches.com/episode/86-acknowledging-the-importance-of-our-emotions-with-angela-adams/
You know I love to discuss emotions and how important acknowledging them and allowing them is to building our emotional strength and well being. Every human being has emotions. They are an integral part of the human experience and yet, we push them away, ignore them, and label them as either “good” or “bad”. But really all that emotions are is a vibration in our body that is produced by a thought. Oftentimes though that vibration can be so intense that we can’t even get to the point of knowing the thought that is causing them.
In this episode, Heather and I talk about that process and really discusses the importance of normalizing each of our emotions so that we can have a better life and use our emotions for our growth and development instead of to our detriment.
Takeaways:
*When you have anxiety it’s important to learn how to manage it, not get rid of it.
*Managing anxiety means we welcome anxiety but we don’t let it into the driverseat of our lives.
*There is a lot of shame with having anxiety because of the meaning we give to anxiety and that there is a problem and there must be something wrong with me since I’m feeling a negative emotion.
*Feeling all the emotions is ok and part of the human experience. It’s the way life is supposed to be.
*While changing our thoughts is needed, we often can’t think clearly when we have so many emotions that are intense and overwhelming. In order to think differently we have to allow for emotions.
*In order to feel emotions, we need to understand what emotions are. Emotions are coming from thoughts that cause a vibration in the body.
*Emotions and motion are related. The word “emotion” has the root of motion and emotions will always move us to do or not do something.
*When we can identify the motion in our bodies produced by emotions, then we can better deal with it and be in control of it instead of it being in control of us. This requires us to drop into our bodies.
*Acknowledging and calling out an emotion – allowing it to be noticed – is the first step of processing an emotion. The second step is allowing room within our bodies and our lives for that emotion to be fully felt.
*In order to better be in touch with our emotions, we have to realize that no emotion is bad and that they are all there for our growth.
*When it comes to emotions like anxiety or depression, there can be genetic components that contribute to them, not just thoughts.
*The Model is a great tool that helps you manage anxiety and become more aware of where the emotion is coming from.

Eight Ways To Discover Your Amazing Worth
Embrace It All!
07/05/22 • 24 min
We are all created by God and as such have infinite value and worth. But we also have a human brain that likes to point out all the things that are "wrong" with us, our weaknesses and struggles, and creates stories that make us believe that we have less worth and value than others who seem to have it all together. I beleived this lie for years.
In this episode I will address what happens when we stay in that belief and why I believe we are given weaknesses. And then I share the 8 things that I have done( and continue to do) to better understand my own worth.

Your Value and the Danger of Relying on External Validation
Embrace It All!
09/21/21 • 15 min
Receiving recognition for something we do feels great. Our world thrives on external validation. We see it everywhere: the workplace, on social media, in our schools, on TV. Where we get in trouble is when we rely on external validation to feel valued or worthy. Our worth has nothing to do with external accolades or recognition. In this episode I will share my own struggle with having my self worth tied to external validation, and the things that we all can do to build a strong belief in our own value and create our own internal validation.
