This episode, we bring on one of our close brothers to speak about the importance of companionship in Islam. We are on the Deen of those we surround ourselves with and to continually increase our strength in faith in Allah and His Oneness, we must associate with like-minded people.

The Prophet SAW had companions whose statuses were greatly uplifted by the Will of Allah and being those who took in the knowledge of the Quran and lived in accordance with it and the sunnah. This notion brings about a question of why is it important to surround ourselves with good people?

We speak about the will to want to succeed with our friends vs. those who are selfish with their friends. Will we be people who will challenge greatness in all those we bring around us? Or will we tolerate people who will not benefit us, our way of life, and will not help us reach Jannah? Ultimately, the goal should be to create bonds that will benefit in this life and the next!

DEENTOUR 10 - CULTURE vs. ISLAM

In this episode we discuss the difference between culture and Islam. Too often the media, or our fellow Muslims or non-Muslims will mix up culture and Islam.

Islam is a way of life. A way of life perfected by Allah SWT and brought to us through a mercy to mankind and the most perfect of creation, Muhammad SAW.

Cultures, especially Arab cultures may be built on precedents of Islam, but no country runs on strictly Islamic law. Its often confused that what people "think" or what a "country" does can be associated with Islam, but that is not the case and we speak of that here.

We address peoples cultural bias, prejudice, and racism as it pertains to the topic among other things. We also bring in personal experiences to show more perspective of the situation and the gravity it holds when calling something Islam, when it is not.

This episode we speak about a requested topic, how do we forgive ourselves after having sinned and moving past it? We speak about forgiving ourselves for our sins and not falling into the trap of shaytan. We speak about bettering ourselves and not letting our past define us.

We also address the importance of seeking forgiveness and repenting to Allah sincerely and how trusting that we are forgiven will allow us to forgive ourselves. It also speaks volumes when we can forgive others who have wronged us because Allah is the Most-Merciful and He forgives All Sins, so we should practice forgiveness and mercy as we would want Allah to forgive us.
