Being a 'creative' myself, I've often found that creating art and building a campaign around it have been completely different skillsets.

Since starting E'XVI, I've had a number of questions about how to build a campaign by musicians & artists - There is no 'perfect' answer. Instead, I've created a perspective model of the very basics to keep you on track with the purpose of the project and what the next steps are. I've named this the Project Circle Model.

When you want to share your art with the world, ask yourself these questions:

---1. Why did you start this creative project? Define the purpose.

---2. How will this creative project take shape? Define the project.

---3. Where do you want this project to be? Locate Destinations.

---4. What do these destinations need? What do you need? Build Assets.

---5. When do you want to do the above (what order)? Build Narrative.

---6. Results - Access each part. Improve. Repeat.

I welcome any feedback and thoughts to this and I hope this is something that brings value to artists looking to execute the project as true to the purpose as possible. Thank you!

Creatives In Quarantine

Creatives in Quarantine & Artists in Isolation:

Look after yourself & close ones before anything else.
Don't feel guilty about lack of productivity in isolation.
If you feel like creating content, any content is good to add to the community.
Video content for artists has much higher traction as there is a demand for indulgent media as escapism.
If you are unsure what to do, reflect on your 'why' and come back swinging.
You are already doing so much by staying home.
Be safe all and we will beat this soon x

---Brits

Successes are a byproduct of alot of hard work, even if it is top heavy.

---Brexit

Your core audience are your priority, and they are likely to be family and friends nearby. If you have good stats to go abroad, get an agent and go tour!

--- 'Two Can Play At That Game' Gaming's

£116 billion per year industry provides direction for streamers and some insight into divergent ways to express art as a musician. Gaming is inwards, and music is outwards, but they both exploit the attention economy (that's not a bad thing!)

--- Artists Making Friends with Brands

When a developing artist has already made waves amongst their friends and family, what else can they do apart from perform more? Aside from digital marketing, contextual partnerships by 'making friends with brands of similar value' can help cross-pollinate audiences.

--- Caffeine TV & Drake Partnership

Caffeine TV is a brand new streaming platform hitting the press with a partnership from Drake. Starting with Drake hosting rap battle event series, Caffeine TV aims to build content to rival the likes of Twitch, YouTube and Netflix all in one. Creatives In Music 4 - Making Friends with Brands

Creatives in Music 4: Making Friends with Brands
Quick message for early artists. If you are looking for creative route for growth outside of your current circle, find common values with other brands or identities and cross pollinate those audiences.

Just like when you make friends, teamwork and sponsors are the same - you find a common interest and share your love for it. Its all part of the journey!

Anything not authentic is obvious, so even if an audience looks big or tempting - approach at your own peril! Integrity over all IMO.

Creatives In Music 3 - Drake wins 'Fair Use' case

Creative DLC: Diary Of A Music Manager

play

02/04/20 • 1 min

Drake's recent win regarding the use of Jimmy Smith's statement inside of his 'Pound Cake' instrumental is a great example of the difference between Master and Publishing rights.
if music was like a book.
The book itself (pages, font, ink etc) is what the Record Labels own and sell to make money. it's the product or the file it travels in.
The story within the book, is the composition. it's intangible, but it has a value. This is what the Publisher owns, and they ensure the writer gets paid for every use or reference of the story.
In this case, Drake got permission to make a book with some of their pages, but he did not get permission to use some of the story. 'Fair Use' ruled that the piece of Jimmy Smith's story that was used did not add, subtract or change the value of Drake's story, despite the pages being there, so no permission in this case was required.

Creativity, art and narrative is held within every medium - especially gaming. After attending an Immersive Gaming panel at @hclublondon including representatives from @ea , #tinyrebel , #esports , @g2esports , I noticed importance with IP & brand of the player within the game. Players are creating content & brand and using the game as a platform. Now is still a good time for unique gamers to make their digital identity their very own IP!
