Cracking Content Podcast

Welcome to the Cracking Content Podcast, helping entrepreneurs to amplify their expertise through storytelling, content and PR, so they can get more sales and make a bigger impact. Every business has a story to tell. Don't be afraid to tell it.

In this week's episode, I am talking about guest blogging. Guest blogging is the act of writing content for another company's or media outlet's website. It's a great way of expanding your audience by sharing valuable information that is at the core of your business and also building relationships with other bloggers and businesses. It also helps with boosting your organic search engine optimization.

{1:17} While you're essentially providing content for someone else, it helps boost traffic to your own website, and this is what's key here, through external links that can increase your domain authority. Your domain authority is where you rank in organic search.

{2:15} The higher the domain authority you link to, the more it's it will boost you in organic search, so you want to connect to high authority websites. This makes guest blogging a brilliant, mutually beneficial experience. The web host receives fresh, high-quality content, and the guest blogger increases brand awareness, gains credibility and ranks higher in search. What's not to love about generating a guest blogging strategy as part of your outreach?

{2:41} Choosing who to work with can take some research. Some businesses prefer to guest blog with partners or have a co-marketing strategy where you guest blog for each other. Others simply find through extensive online searches that they can start finding people that accept guest bloggers. The most important thing is to approach bloggers who share your niche and business values and are a respected member of the community.

{3:13} What should you look for before you agree to guest blogging? Ask these questions, does the blog or blogger have active followers that engage with their content through likes and comments? Do they post regularly on social media? Do they have a high domain authority that would increase your SEO ranking?

{4:30} There might be someone who's got an established business and website with a good domain authority that would love a guest blog from you because it means less work for them. Guest blogging is important because it's a wider part of getting yourself known. If one of your goals for this year is to grow your audience, this is a great way to do it, particularly if you know your ideal customer likes reading blogs.

{4:54} To conclude, guest blogging is a great way to get more visible and grow your audience. It will also boost your brand awareness and credibility, and connect with businesses that really matter to you and that share the same values as you.

Ep. 031 How To Boss Blogging

Welcome to the Cracking Content Podcast, helping entrepreneurs to amplify their expertise through storytelling, content and PR, so they can get more sales and make a bigger impact. Every business has a story to tell. Don't be afraid to tell it.

In this episode, I'm going to explore why it's so important to have blogging as part of your content strategy. So for those of you that might be new to content marketing, a blog is shared from your website, and it's an informal way of talking to your customers, and it can cover a huge range of topics. Blogs can range from a post about why you set up your business to topics that are timely and relevant in your sector. And guess what? A blog isn't about you; it's about your customer.

{1:41} So when you're thinking about planning out your blogs for the next quarter, which I would highly recommend, think about the pain points of your customers and how you and your business or your company solves them.

{1:45} A blog is a really easy way to communicate, connect, and share information with your customers. It comes from your website and is content owned by you. I share this a lot, which is why I am a massive fan of creating core content for your business. You own your website, no one can shut it down, no one can close your account. I know lots of people that have had Instagram accounts, Facebook ad accounts shut down and suddenly you've lost your audience to sell to. So that's one very good reason to blog from your website.

{3:24} Every time you write a post, it is one more index page on your website. This means it's one more opportunity for you to show up in search engines and drive traffic to your website in organic search.

{3:49} The more traffic you have, the more customers are reaching your site, which gives you the opportunity to convert those leads into sales. You can do this by using a lead-generating call to action at the bottom of your blog. Offer them a free e-book guide or cheat sheet, which convinces your reader to give up their contact details, their email address. So you can reach them via an email marketing campaign.

{4:47} The key to content marketing is answering your customers' problems and creating conversations with them. Conversations lead to conversions, and blogs enable you to do this. Not only that, but you can answer things like frequently asked questions.

{5:53} Your customers can find out more about you and your products and services. Your blogs build trust with them. And again, by sharing on social media, you start those all important conversations, because we're not just broadcasters. The point of social media is that it's social and you create those conversations.

{6:02} Blogs also help you share your brand story and mission. A clear blogging strategy will make you clear about who your ideal customer is, what they need help with and what they want to learn.

Ep. 033 Why You Should Join Clubhouse

Ep. 033 Why You Should Join Clubhouse

Welcome to the Cracking Content Podcast, helping entrepreneurs to amplify their expertise through storytelling, content and PR, so they can get more sales and make a bigger impact. Every business has a story to tell. Don't be afraid to tell it.

In this episode, I'm going to be talking about Clubhouse, the new audio app that everyone is talking about. So unless you've been living under a rock, you will have heard about it, wanted to get an invite to it, or maybe you're completely addicted to it and you're listening to Clubhouse every day. For those of you that don't know what it is, it's considered an exclusive app, which has hit the social media world by storm. It's accumulating thousands, if not even more, of conversations every minute of every day.

{1:14} It's got only audio features so there's no video and you can enter live rooms as a fly on the wall to listen to conversations. And you can raise a hand to join the conversations, or basically go up on stage to ask the people that are up their questions.

{2:01} It is an amazing way to network and generate new followers because there's a spring fever around Clubhouse. Everybody wants to be on it. Everybody's creating rooms for people to take part in live discussions.

{2:33} I've been active on Clubhouse probably for over a month. I joined in January. And it has generated a lot more followers on the app and also followers on Instagram because you can link Instagram and Twitter to your media bio on Clubhouse. So it's definitely an interesting platform to explore, but we all have to bear in mind that platforms are made to be addictive. Clubhouse, you can run all day like a radio station, and it can detract you from creating core content that people can come back to.

{3:30} Think of it as a live networking event that you are creating a stage and inviting people to come up and talk to you and you're giving them advice and you're creating connections. You're inviting them to follow you on Instagram or to download a freebie or to DM you for more information.

{4:43} The other thing that you can do is apply for a club and that means people are immediately notified if you set up a room. There's a big backlog at the moment, apparently. So they're releasing new clubs in batches. And again, I think there's been server issues where I've tried to get on Clubhouse and couldn't host a room. So they're battling with just a huge amount of people downloading and using the app.

{5:11} I think some people have shared massive wins using the Clubhouse app, particularly for Instagram growth and selling online programs and courses, and just generally growing an audience. So it's one of those things where I think the bonuses are that you don't need to be camera ready. We all love chatting, and you can literally join a room in your pajamas.

{5:52} I've been invited to share stages and share my expertise with lots of different people. I've managed to connect with some amazing entrepreneurs and inspirational people on the platform.

{6:06} This is the time where you can get big growth and followers on Clubhouse because it's still in its heyday. They're not messing around with algorithms, they're testing it. They're getting people to figure out how it works. And some people have just got an incredible amount of followers in a very short period of time.

{7:14} One of the amazing things about Clubhouse is your bio. You get a really amazing amount of space in there to share knowledge about you and your business. So make sure that you've linked up your Instagram and your Twitter, and also that you are sharing any freebies or a call to action to join a free Facebook group.

{7.42} The other thing that's worth considering is making sure your profile pic that you use stands out, so that when you go into a room, people remember you.
