Last week I told you to tell me which Director you wanted me to interview, and Karen Lynch, Area Director of Operations in Kansas City, won by a HUGE margin.

On this week's episode, we learn about how Karen came to work for US Beef and how we could have easily missed the opportunity to hire her. We talk about her experience opening restaurants and how she was able to move up in the organization by helping out when needed. She also tells us about the first time she met Jeff Davis, owner of US Beef, and we laugh about how that interaction could have gone horribly wrong had she reacted differently.

I've done my best to avoid having guests on CompassCast that have any knowledge of my performance when I was first starting out in management...but my streak ends at Episode 20. Karen shares a couple of stories about working with me as a trainee when we opened Nixa, MO back in 2005.
