The Mad Butcher of West Virginia
Between 1962-1964 Southern West Virginia was being haunted by the presence of a seemingly “Mad Man.” Throughout the course of several years as many as seven (7) men disappeared while walking alone or hitchhiking in Fayette and Wyoming Counties. It wasn’t until the butchered remains of Mike Rogers were discovered in December 1962 that panic spread throughout the small Appalachian Community and the legend of “Mad Butcher of West Virginia” took hold. Though only two (2) butchered bodies were ever discovered, the whereabouts of the others remain a mystery. Come along with the Cold Case Crew as they re-tell the story of the “Mad Butcher of West Virginia.” In this Part 1, we will discuss the victims and the circumstances surrounding the disappearances and follow up with the investigation and suspects in our next episode.
