In the past several years, there has been much discussion on the need to foster more inclusive workplaces, with special attention on general Diversity and Inclusion practices. However, we also need to see more diversity in leadership roles. Indeed, managerial-level diversity can be most instrumental in creating workplace environments that truly are inclusive of all kinds of people. One specific focus is on the queer community. How an we foster more LGBTQ+ leadership in the workplace? We spoke with Dr. Steve Yacovelli - "The Gay Leadership Dude" - about how to achieve this goal.
Steve Yacovelli (“The Gay Leadership Dude”) is Owner & Principal of TopDog Learning Group, LLC, a learning and development, leadership, change management, and diversity and inclusion consulting firm based in Orlando, FL, with affiliates across the globe.

What Do You Need to Know About Self-Defense and Protecting Yourself?
The world can be a dangerous place, and it's important to know how to stay safe. However, conflict and danger can't always be avoided. For that reason, everyone - including women and anyone over the age of 50 - should know about self-defense. How can you protect yourself? We spoke with Doug Setter all about keeping yourself safe on our new podcast.
Doug Setter is a certified fitness instructor with a Bachelor of Human Ecology (Foods and Nutrition) and author of Fit Femme After 50, Flat Gut After 50, Flat Gut After COVID (to be released in December 2021), Stomach Flattening, Reduce Your Alcohol Craving, and One Less Victim: a crime prevention manual. He has been a paratrooper, competitive kick-boxer and marathon runner. As an infantry sergeant, he led a team in a United Nations peacekeeping mission in the former Yugoslavia and later instructed over 300 trainees in military and outdoor skills.
In his late 30s, he combined kick-boxing with exercise and taught women’s cardio kick-boxing with waiting list classes. Then, he teamed up with martial arts instructor and former undercover vice police officer William Bell to instruct self-defense for children, teens, women and welfare investigators.
At age 40, he won a welterweight kick-boxing title belt. Later, he climbed Mt. Rainier (age 47). Through behavior changing, he was able to overcome his poor school marks and complete university with a Bachelor of Human Ecology (Foods & Nutrition). He instructs self-defense and personal training with many clients over the age of 50.
