Centered in the City - Solo Episode: Untangle from the Efficiency Trap
play

07/06/23 • 24 min

This week's podcast, I am kicking off the "Summer Slow Down" Series with a solo episode. I discuss the "efficiency trap" that Oliver Burkeman highlights in his book, Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals. I share a stretchy and personal practice I am trying out this summer to help me slow down and untangle from the need to feel busy and productive. One of the reasons we like to be busy is because it feels good, to a certain extent. However, sometimes staying busy can compensate for our self-worth or because we don't want to feel unpleasant feelings like boredom or loneliness. I highlight the inner mindset and emotional regulation work I am flexing to manage the urge to fill up my schedule and instead practice slowing down.

Take a listen to this episode and share your takeaways with me on Instagram @OneWade or here on my connect form.
