Cancer made me stronger. Shruti is a postgraduate student in physiotherapy. She is also a Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor. She was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. cancer in 2019. She underwent 12 chemotherapy sessions and today she is here with us cancer free sharing her journey.

Priyambada Pani was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996 when she was 37 years old. She didn't have any symptoms initially, but after she visited her friend, she learned that after the age of 35, women should do self-examinations and tests. One day she noticed a lump in her breast and then got tested, but the reports got delayed due to 1 month, and her tumour progressed eventually. She says that her brother is an oncologist, so luckily, her treatment got started early. She tells everyone to live their life to the fullest and have faith in God. She went through 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 5 radiation therapy every week. Priyambada says that cancer made her more courageous. She has started her boutique now, which makes her feel happier.

Skin Cancer Patient : Terry Tucker : Cancer Survivor Stories

Terry Tucker was diagnosed with rare form of melanoma that appeared on the bottom of the feet or the palms of the hand in early 2012. He was a high school basketball coach at that time. One day his callus broke open right below the bottom of his toe. So being a coach, he didn't think much, but after a few days, when it didn't heal, he went to his foot doctor. In the X-ray, a cyst was detected, which got removed, but pathology reports detected cancer. By that time, his cancer had metastasized to a lymph node in his groin. He was treated at the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer centre. He had two surgeries to remove the tumour, and after he healed, he was put on a weekly injection of interferon to help keep the disease from returning. The interferon gave him flu-like symptoms. This misery went on for over 1,660 days. One thing that Terry learned during all the pain and suffering is that you have two choices. You can either succumb to the debilitating discomfort and misery or learn to embrace it and use it to make you a more robust and better human being. He chose the latter.
