Why We Get Sick with the Incredible Dr. Ben Bikman 030
12/14/20 • 58 min
THE Dr. Benjamin Bikman. What an privilege. It was a pleasure to chat with him, and to learn from him over the years. Dr. Bikman is one of the most respected insulin researchers in the world. In 2018, he stepped onto the stage at Low-Carb Breckenridge and delivered his talk, which shot him into the stratosphere of the low-carb world. Since then, he has continued his marvelous research, started a supplement company, and wrote a wonderful book called "Why We Get Sick". His discourse at BYU called "The Plagues of Prosperity" is absolutely phenomenal, and this conversation is full of humility and wisdom. I had to pinch myself a few times during this talk, it was an absolute honor to host him.

The Human That Forever Influenced My Career with Bob Seebohar 029
If you have ever worked with us, are working with us, or will work with us, you are working with our amazing guest by proxy. This episode was special. I had the opportunity to thank the dude who completely shifted my career forever. Bob Seebohar did a call eight years ago talking about "Metabolic Efficiency" and how to burn fat as fuel as an endurance athlete by embracing dietary fat and reducing carbohydrates. At the time, it blew my mind. Bob was one of the first US Triathlon Level III Coaches in the country. He now has a bunch of letters behind his name, and runs several successful companies, including eNRG, which is his flagship company. He also makes delicious snacks that fit his program with his company Birota Foods! This was an absolute honor and I will be forever grateful for Bob and his work.

Pure Determination with Gold Medalist Derek Parra 031
Goosebumps!!! Interviewing gold medalist Derek Parra IN THE VERY BUILDING, the Utah Olympic Oval, where he took the gold medal on his home ice in 2002 was insane. He was getting so excited, pointing out of the office windows out to the ice, talking about the crowd and the excitement, this was electric. Most people don't know what Derek had to go through to get there, and his story is absolutely captivating, as he wrote in his book, Reflections In The Ice. Being introduced to roller skating races to win a soda because he was thirsty. Eating stale food because he was hungry. Transferring from roller to ice so that he could represent his country in the Olympic Games. Making it to Nagano in '98, only to be told THE NIGHT BEFORE THE RACE that due to a technically in timing in a qualifying race, that he couldn't skate.
And then.... He stepped out onto his home ice in 2002. And...... He was the first ever Lation to win gold in the Winter Olympics. The event has been skated faster since then. But NEVER in the Olympic Games.
This was a special interview. So grateful for Derek, his determination, and for his direct influence in my life, helping me learn the sport.
