Bitch, breathe! - #29 Raising a Boy Part I
play

05/16/21 • 23 min

Raising boys today.

"He's so cute and smart and handsome, he made varsity, he has so many friends, he is going places, I just know it!" I have yet to meet a mom who isn't convinced the sun shines out of her boy's, um, face. And yes, raising a boy (I don't have girls, so no idea) is such a delight. But what if we recognize, these aren't just OUR boys, these are society's men one day, leaders, fathers, soldiers, friends. Would we still do everything the same way or would we take a closer look at where, maybe, we're letting them get away with stuff they shouldn't, or that there sisters maybe don't? And where, on the other hand, are we not taking care of them in the same emphatic way we would girls perhaps? Join me for this first of two episodes and lemme know what you think (about your boys)!

Bitch, breathe! - #26 What if Women were the problem?
play

04/11/21 • 26 min

How' s your feminism working for ya?

Madeleine Albright once famously said: “There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women." This is about 15 years ago. Burning bras in the seventies? Around 50 years ago..and still we haven't been able to speak as one collective voice, one body politic. We still haven't learned how to stand up for and with each other and to be generous enough to let strong women unfold their full potential without feeling it somehow lessens our light or our right to be all that we can be as well. In this episode of Bitch, breathe! we look at how this happened, why it's still difficult and what we can do to help each other elevate, rest easy at night, knowing that we are more powerful and fierce than we know.Together.

Regrets are futile, so why do we have them?

Regrets. Had a few? Then again too few to mention? As life progresses and the pandemic continues, it's easy to start looking backward when forward seems uncertain, daunting even. What can we do in hindsight when we realize, "dammit, I shoulda, woulda, coulda done that differently!" Is there a way to bend current realities and get some of the regretful stuff back? To catch up on all those things we have FOMO about, to even get what we didn't get before? I believe so. Tune in to find out more about dreadful regrets and helpful ways outta there.

Bitch, breathe! - #27 Pandemic Workaholic

How the pandemic is turning us into workaholics

It's been a while my friends-I'm so sorry for my absence! But the title of the episode will maybe tell you why. After all, this pandemic allows us 3 activities: buy food, have sex (lucky you) and work-like a maniac. After almost 1,5 years of this shit, I suddenly realized I had completey stuck my head in the sand and had started to work longer and longer hours all these months. More deadlines, more performance pressure,"at least this part of life is under my control!", I thought. But what if work isn't actually working for you? What if it has become your number 1 escape plan? Ok, number 2 if we count Netflix. In this episode we talk about how working during the pandemic is making us speed up so much we lose sight of what does work, and here's a hint: it ain't your job. Welcome back!

Bitch, breathe! - #24 The Spring Equinox Special
play

03/21/21 • 14 min

Finally! Spring is here and it's time to renew!

Finally, she's here! Even this %&$# pandemic can't stop spring from returning to the Northern Hemisphere. I'm so excited to pack up all those big winter coats as temperatures rise and we get to be outside more without freezing our buns off. It's also a time to tease out our inner spiritual and business witches and look at some of the goals and rituals around this time of the year and how we can put those into full-on spring action. Though many of us have not returned to anything that resembles "life before", what are some of the ways, we can rebirth or resurrect what wants to come forward now? I've got an idea...! Happy for you to join!

Bitch, breathe! - #23 The Break-Up Part 1
play

03/18/21 • 25 min

How to survive a break-up.

We've all been there. Maybe we're there right this moment. Everything hurts, we don't see a way forward-logistically or emotionally-and nothing makes sense anymore. This was supposed to be forever, so why are we suddenly here? Whose life is this because it certainly doesn't resemble mine. Who is this person and who am I without them? What is it that I need to do right now? This is part 1 of a double episode on break-ups. I truly hope it can serve in some way, wherever in the process you might be at this time. We will get through this, even if it doesn't look like it at the moment. From my heart to yours.

Bitch, breathe! - #21 Women's Day Special: What women want
play

What women want and how we can get it.

This isn't what it looks like. In today's special episode we're not goingt to vent as much as we're going to look at some of the ways, in which we ourselves have contributed and continue to contribute to the world that is patrlinear and sexist. Is this still a battle cry against patriarchy tho? Absolutely. Enjoy all you beautiful, proud and superhuman women out there! Happy women's day!

How to stop feeling guilty because you're not the "perfect mom".

This one's for all you moms (and dads?) out there, who are trying to hold it all together, even as partners, politics and a pandemic are making us double down on our workload and demanding of us to perform the ultimate impossibility: to be the perfect woman, partner, mom, employee or employer. Make yourself a cup of coffee, sit back and tell the world to kiss your a.. for the next 20 minutes or so!

Bitch, breathe! - #30 Raising a Boy Part II

Raising future leaders, not assholes

So, in part one we talked about the social aspect of raising our boys. Now we get down and dirty with the political, societal fallout of raising male-identiefied children. We even get into the issue of race; what does it mean to raise a POC or a boy of color? What does that mean, especially, when you turned out very light-skinned and have privilege written all over your face? Difficult questions but defo something we want to talk about, even, no, especially when we make mistakes or made them in the past and we realize there's so much more to learn.
