A Sex Adddicts Journey to Teach Men How to Rebuild the Relationship with CTC
Today Carol the Coach will be interviewing Matthew, who will be sharing about his work helping men who have committed betrayal and/or who struggle with unwanted sexual behavior restore their lives and relationships. He and his wife Joanna, have been working in the field of betrayal/addiction recovery for over 5 years helping couples rebuild what was lost. He explains to Carol the Coach that his particular focus of this effort has been in coaching men to reclaim their authentic, healthy self in order to constantly show up as safe and loving to the people who have been wounded by their behaviors. His research and experience has taught him that in order for this to happen there is vital work for the betrayer to restore identity and safety for himself/herself. This work of restoration includes forgiveness of others, practicing self compassion, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and empathetic growth. He has seen men transform from dangerously destructive for their partners to radically supportive, patient, and safe toward those that they victimized. Every man who reaches out wants to get it right. They want to love and be loved well. They want to clear the wreckage of their past. They want their partners to feel safe and secure. He will be explaining that he gets the privilege of helping them learn the tools they need to go from wish to reality.
