Beautiful Second Act - The Beauty Of Getting Older / Patti Diener
play

11/02/21 • 22 min

It's the most freeing feeling to be over 50! What once unhinged me, I no longer feel a prisoner to. Knowing yourself and honoring ALL the parts of you is the best way to live a wholehearted life.
In this first episode of Season 2, for Beautiful Second Act, I talk all about how I had a breakdown in my early 30's, trying to be and do all the things I thought a wife and mother were supposed to do. Being on the other side of that time in life, I have such perspective now, and realize we waste so much of our time in life trying to be something for all the wrong reasons.
Join me by listening to Beautiful Second Act, and share with your friends how we can celebrate life, take better care of ourselves, and learn to love living out loud, this glorious and wonderful second half.
I talked of a movie recommendation called Calendar Girls. Click the link for more info. It's a fantastic film celebrating life, loving, and community. By the way, it's also hilarious.
If you are interested in buying a copy of my book, AFTER THE FIRE, click the link and if you have time, please leave a review on either Amazon, or Goodreads. It helps more than you know.

You wouldn't think that healing our health and forgiveness have anything in common, but it is quite fascinating to me how human beings often have the same reaction to both.
Inevitablly, change comes once we do either. If we heal from a long struggle with our health, or we find a way to forgive a long going grudge or tragic situation, our lives are changed and put us on a different path. This can be scary for a lot of people, especially if they have been unknowingly so attached to their feelings dealing with either.
We often don't realize that in struggling with poor health, or hanging onto grudges, that our identity as a victim is all we know. People can often feel lost once they've been cured, or find forgiveness for whatever situation plagued them. It can be difficult to trust the new feelings of peace, joy, ease, or grace.
In this episode I talk all about how I discovered this phenomenon. How listening to others and paying attention to friends and my own past, brought this strange similarity to light.

When you know something is wrong and doctors give you an unsatisfying diagnosis, dig deeper. Tammy Alameda was told her weight loss wasn't to be concerned about and her troubles were nothing more than hemorrhoids. Months later and several doctor appointments that gave no answers, Tammy saw another doctor who thought she should have had the colonoscopy she wanted. But it was too late. An ER visit and agonizing pain proved that not only did Tammy have a problem, she almost lost her life.
Being told you may only have 24 hours to live is something unimaginable. But for Tammy, she knew her time wasn't up. Her diagnosis of Stage 4 Cancer didn't detour her from the fact that she had a lot of living left to do, no matter what the doctors said.
In this episode, Tammy shares her terrifying story that has a happy ending. It is so important that you seek answers no matter what your diagnosis. Always take someone with you to get all the information, and above all...NEVER GIVE UP!

Beautiful Second Act - I Haven't Always Been Brave / Patti Diener
play

08/24/21 • 21 min

Just because someone seems bold on the outside doesn't mean they are always brave. It takes courage to be vulnerable. That is how I have found ways to be brave in my life.
From chosing to jump off the 17 ft. high dive at the pool, to asking girls to play with me. It has always been a struggle but I found that you never get anything you don't ask for. Saying yes, or choosing to be brave and taking a risk, is the only way things change.
In my life today, I am still taking risks. Listen to this episode to find out how.
If you are interested in me working with you for a writing project, I have listed a few things( in my portfolio), I've worked on here on Writers Work.

Beautiful Second Act - Eliminate Stress By Decluttering Your Space / Patti Diener
play

08/17/21 • 14 min

Today's episode is about how you can eliminate stress and be much more productive when you declutter your home work space. Not only that, but if you declutter your house, you will have a much more relaxed feeling upon walking through your front door after a long day.
In midlife, we've accumulted quite a bit of stuff. Much of it we don't even use. My ideas aren't new, but I felt the need to share out with you how just going through one room a week to declutter, can bring you a great sense of peace.
From the beginning of this episode, here is a link to my portfolio in Writers Work.
Also, here is the link to buy my book, AFTER THE FIRE. You can also read about my writing process and all the interviews from the 2015 Valley Fire by going to my website, pattidienerwrites.com.

Beautiful Second Act - Let's Talk About Hormones / Patti Diener
play

08/12/21 • 27 min

In this episode I talk about my personal experiences with hormones and how they went astray. How getting medical help first hampered the situation, and then finally made me feel better than I had since my early twenties.
When I discovered Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), it changed my life. I hadn't slept for a full night in two years. Hot flashes plagued me day and night so that I never had skin that was dry, or comfortable. When my doctor and I came up with a treatment that would target my hormone loss, I finally found the missing link to truly being, and feeling, healthy.
Dr. Madison Fandel, ND, can be found by going to her website here. She is a fantastic doctor that will listen to you, and treat the whole body, not just your symptoms. Here's also a link to the interview with her on Spotify. You can also listen on other platforms such as IHeartRadio or others, just look for the title, BETTER HEALTH, BETTER LOOKS, BETTER SEX.
The Suzanne Somers' books that I spoke of are; I'M TOO YOUNG FOR THIS, and the new one called, A NEW WAY TO AGE. That is the one I read the excerpt from.
I hope you all enjoy the content I am bringing to you. If you do, please recommend the podcast to a friend or two. Also if you'd like to join our Facebook Group, Beautiful Second Act, go ahead and join the conversation there.
Wishing you all well,

As we celebrate this Thanksgiving of 2021, it's good to reflect on where we've been. How we move in this life just like the seasons.
If you are in midlife or beyond, you are in the autumn, or the winter of life. Just like the trees, we change, we grow, and we learn to show our true colors. We learn to let go, and to settle into the slower paced, peaceful beauty of our final years and days with grace.
This episode is one of gratitude, ease, and wonder. I hope you will find something that resonates with you as you listen, and please know that I am so grateful you found my podcast.
I wish each of you a wonderful Thanksgiving. I pray for those who cannot be with loved ones. I call upon each of you to dig deep this season and tell those you love and care for, just how much they mean to you.
