EP 11: Ancestral Medicine: Rituals for Personal and Family Healing - with Daniel Foor PhD
Daniel is a teacher and practitioner whose training as a doctor of psychology and licensed marriage and family therapist informs his work with earth-honoring traditions such as European pagan paths, Native American ways, Mongolian shamanism, and West African Ifá/Òrìṣà traditions.
Since 2005 he’s guided hundreds of ancestor trainings, rituals, and talks throughout the world. Daniel has trained with teachers of Mahayana Buddhism, Islamic Sufism, and diverse indigenous paths, including the remnant and returning traditions of his older English, Irish, and German ancestors. As well as studying the culture and languages of the Czech Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, Egypt, Morocco, and Nigeria.
In this episode, he talks with us about calling on our ancestors to assist in our spiritual work, and how to identify the "troubled dead" who are not yet ancestors. We also discuss racism, cultural amnesia and cultural appropriation.
You can find Daniel's book, Ancestral Medicine: Rituals for Personal and Family Healing HERE.
