Today we’re discussing ADHD and relationships. We’ll take a look at the work of Drs. John and Julie Gottman and those in realtionships make what they refer to as “bids for connection” in order to communicate and connect with each other.
These gestures that we use to signal our need for attention and connection and they can be verbal or nonverbal, overt or relatively subtle.
We may readily respond to some, but miss others entirely (and miss the chance for connection as well) We’ll also explore some common ADHD traits and how these can impact giving/ receiving bids in our relationships.
