We discuss the benefits of having multiple authoring tools for different stages of production, from a development environment where new plugins can be created and tested, to a production environment where courses are created to a post-release environment for the updating and maintenance of courses. Each step has different levels of precaution to allow for experiments to happen without the risk of it affecting the production server.
