A World of Difference

Russ Laraway has had a diverse 28 year operational management career. He was a Company Commander in the Marine Corps before starting his first company, Pathfinders. From there, Russ went to the Wharton School, and then onto management roles at Google and Twitter. He then co-founded Candor, Inc., along with best selling author Kim Scott.

Over the last several years, Russ served as the Chief People Officer at Qualtrics, and is now the Chief People Officer for the fast-growing venture capital firm, Goodwater Capital, where he is helping Goodwater and its portfolio companies to empower their people to do great work and be totally psyched while doing it.

Over his career, Russ has managed 700 person teams and $700M businesses at places like Google and Twitter -- facing a vast array of leadership challenges along the way. He's the author of the book When They Win, You Win: Being a Great Manager Is Simpler Than You Think.

Wellness: Rebekah Jackson on Occupational Therapy, Being a Health Coach, Running, Healthy Eating, Changing Habits, and the Mind, Body, Soul Connection

As we finish out Autism Awareness Month and begin Mental Health Awareness Month, many are feasting for Eid at the end of Ramadan. All Star Wars friends are hoping May the 4th will be with you, and yet we do not want to forget that Mother's Day is just around the corner. Mothers who work outside the home and do both paid and unpaid work really face impossible challenges toward wellness. However, there is hope.

As we begin our Wellness series, we have a guest on this episode who will remind us to be kind to ourselves, and give us practical tools that don't overwhelm us in the process.

Rebekah Jackson is a certified independent health coach and a business coach to other health coaches. She lost over 25 pounds in her health journey and has gained changes in her overall mindset in learning to live in long term optimal health and habits. From someone who used to believe that “running off the food” would make a difference to learning to fuel her body, mind, and spirit, she has learned that the journey to health is just that... a journey.

Rebekah has coached over 100 people in the last year in their own health journey as they have pursued optimal health one healthy habit at a time and leads a team of 7 coaches in their businesses in caring for others and supporting them in their journey.

Rebekah is also a licensed/certified occupational therapist and loves to incorporate this into her health coaching in order to support others in reaching and achieving the goals they never thought possible and enjoying the “habits and hobbies” that bring them joy.

She’s a wife of almost 19 years, a mother to an energetic 9 year old and loves to run and try new recipes.

Reach out to Rebekah for Health Coaching on Facebook or Instagram.

Wellness: Gillian Tietz on Sober Powered, Alcohol's Effect on Different Types of Brains, and the Shame Around Problematic Drinking

Gillian Tietz is the host of the Sober Powered podcast and works as a biochemist in the Boston area. When she quit drinking in 2019, she dedicated herself to learning about alcohol's influence on the brain and how it can cause addiction. She used that knowledge to free herself from the shame she had about being unable to control her drinking. Today, she educates and empowers others to assess their relationship with alcohol. You can find Gill creating content on Instagram, YouTube, and wherever you listen to podcasts.
