Paid podcast growth - scam, or smart marketing?
Podcasting Insights with The Podmaster: growth advice for people and brands
04/04/25 • 12 min
Picture this: You're determined to grow your podcast to get the best possible results, but find yourself smothered by the temptation of paying some guy to hoist it onto the so-called podcast charts. Your ego takes hold, and even though you know you shouldn't pay to 'cheat', the idea of finally getting noticed and regarded as a great podcaster becomes too much to bear.
But wait - do you really know what you're getting yourself into?
This episode of Podcasting Insights with The Podmaster is inspired by a frankly wrong piece of advice offered by another podcast - Podcast Marketing Trends, hosted by Jeremy Enns and Justin Jackson. They claimed paid podcasting promotion is a money pit.
Well, I'm hoping to help you understand the different kinds of paid podcast promotion.
So, is it a cunning growth hack or just a money pit disguised with sweet promises?
Stick with me—Neal Veglio—for a reality check.
Here's what you'll learn:
The murky truth behind those promises of instant chart success and 10,000 downloads by Tuesday, and why these schemes aren't worth the faux glitz they offer.
What are click farms?
Why a real, authentic audience isn't just science fiction but a tangible outcome when approached with the right mix of strategy and sincerity.
As promised, here are the names of our clients who have used Podknows Podcasting's marketing help in the past.
Colin True (The Rock Fight, Open Container)

YouTube Podcasting: Step-by-Step Guide to Ingesting Your Podcast into YouTube
In this episode of "The Podmaster", I'm sharing the process of adding your podcast to YouTube using its simple ingest system.
If you're a Libsyn customer, you probably won't need to go through any of this because they offer an easy way to add your show using their destinations page, and a similar tool is planned for Captivate customers.
But in case you're needing to add your own podcast to YouTube, here I am walking you through it.
To start with, you'll need to go into your show settings to obtain your RSS feed from your podcast hosting company.
Then, make sure you're logged into your YouTube account.
You'll be using the YouTube Studio tab to create and upload your podcast.
It goes without saying this is audio, so if you're the kind of person that needs to follow along these steps, here's the video version.
I'll also be sharing my views on audiograms and offering you suggestions for a far better use of your time!

Is Video Podcasting About To Kill The Audio Podcast Star?
Podcasting Insights with The Podmaster: growth advice for people and brands
01/03/25 • 7 min
Welcome to this episode of "The Podmaster" which delves into the continuing debate around the trend of 'video podcasts' and whether we need to take it more seriously in 2025.
The article that inspired this episode is this one from Vulture - https://www.vulture.com/article/will-video-kill-the-audio-star-in-2025
Hi, I'm Neal Veglio, The Podmaster, and I want to open this topic by acknowledging that I'm an OG in podcasting and massively fond of its origins as an audio format.
Audio podcasts have traditionally provided a unique intimacy and portability for listeners.
However, with the recent surge in popularity of video podcasts, spearheaded by influential figures like Joe Rogan, there’s a palpable shift in how creators engage with their audiences.
So I'm posing a critical question: Is the move towards video a genuine evolution in the medium, or merely a passing trend?
And talking of video podcasting, is Spotify trying to muscle in on YouTube's turf?
