Friends of the Rosary,

As we read yesterday, “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and God what belongs to God," said Jesus when the Pharisees inquired (Mark 12:13–17).

The Holy Trinity is the source of everything, from politics and law to science and technology. Everything comes from God and returns to God.

St. Thomas Aquinas said that law comes from the eternal law, which is identical to the mind of God. This eternal law is reflected in the human mind and heart. Politics are concrete applications.

Politics is related to God, and therefore, we should expect judges, politicians, and those in public office to act according to moral principles.

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!

To Jesus through Mary!

Friends of the Rosary,

Today, Friday of the Passion of the Lord, Holy Friday, or Good Friday (a deviation of the term “God’s Friday), the Church observes the earthly death of our Savior. It’s a solemn day of mourning, prayer, fasting, and a sense of sadness as we acknowledge our failure to serve our Lord.

We slow down, restrict ourselves from entertainment, participate in processions and devotions (such as the Rosary, Stations of the Cross, and the Divine Mercy), and meditate on readings and prayers related to the passion of Christ.

At three o’clock, the faithful attend the “Celebration of the Lord’s Passion.” It’s not a Mass but a service with three parts: Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of the Cross, and Holy Communion.

At the beginning, the priests and deacons prostrate themselves in silent prayer. The General Intentions cover ten areas:

  1. For the Church
  2. For the Pope
  3. For the clergy and laity of the Church
  4. For those preparing for baptism
  5. For the unity of Christians
  6. For the Jewish people
  7. For those who do not believe in Christ
  8. For those who do not believe in God
  9. For all in public office
  10. For those in special need

In part two, we venerate and kiss the wooden cross “on which hung the Savior of the world.”

In part three, the congregation receives Holy Communion, and everyone departs in silence.

The liturgies of the Paschal Triduum are one continuous act of worship. Yesterday, we saw Christ Jesus at the Last Supper completing the washing of the feet in all humility and instituting the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Orders. Today, at the midpoint of the Triduum of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of the Lord, our pilgrimage comes to Calvary. Tomorrow, the Easter Vigil of Easter will begin with the Service of Light.

The first reading at today’s commemoration of the Passion is the fourth of Isaiah’s songs of the Suffering Servant.

Then we hear St. John’s narrative of Christ’s Passion. To protect and heal us from darkness, Christ Jesus allowed the fury of sin to destroy Him. He endured the pain of the cross bearing our sins.

The Suffering Servant pleased the Father not by his agony but by being obedient to the point of death on the cross, offering his body in sacrifice to take away the sin of the world.

St. Anselm said that the death of the Son reestablished the right relationship between divinity and humanity.

In Jesus, with his arms outstretched on the cross, we find the redemption of our suffering. He is the source of our eternal salvation.

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!

Today's Rosary | Holy Rosary University - March 16, 2025, Second Sunday of Lent, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)
play

Friends of the Rosary,

Today’s Sunday, the mass (St. Luke 9:28-36) places before us the transfigured Lord. he is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end of all things.

On the second Sunday of Lent, we move from Jesus' retreat to the desert and temptation by the devil to the glory shown in Jesus' Transfiguration.

Christ Jesus shows forth His divine glory between Moses and Elias in the passage of the Transfiguration, foreshadowing His resurrection.

And with Christ, he showed two other faithful servants, Moses and Elijah, also in glory, speaking about their suffering exodus.

Jesus understood the disciples' human weakness. So, to strengthen them for the passion and crucifixion of their beloved Master some weeks later, he gave them a glimpse of the future glory that was to be theirs, too, if they persevered.

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!

Friends of the Rosary,

Yesterday, we celebrated Mary's birthday. The Blessed Virgin assists us from heaven with her prayers and motherly care to bring us to God. It's Mary's maternal mediation.

Christ Jesus is the mediator who, after the Fall, stands between God and fallen humanity to bring us back into communion with God.

But the Son of God doesn't keep his role as mediator to himself. He wants Mary to share in his mediation. According to Vatican II in Lumen Gentium, Mary's uniquely important role is captured by "maternal mediation."

"The Blessed Virgin was on this earth the virgin Mother of the Redeemer, and above all others and in a singular way the generous associate and humble handmaid of the Lord. She conceived, brought forth, and nourished Christ."

"In this singular way, she cooperated by her obedience, faith, hope, and burning charity in the work of our Savior in giving back supernatural life to souls."

Friends of the Rosary,

Today, February 11, we celebrate the Optional Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes, with her message of calling to personal conversion, prayer, and charity.

On a day like this 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to fourteen-year-old Marie Bernade Soubirous, St. Bernadette.

Between February 11 and July 16, the Immaculata appeared eighteen times and showed herself to St. Bernadette in the hollow of the rock at Lourdes, in the south of France.

On March 25, she said to her:"I am the Immaculate Conception."

Since then, Lourdes has become a place of pilgrimage, and many cures and conversions have taken place.

On her apparition, the Immaculate Conception was youthful and clothed in a pure white gown and mantle with an azure blue girdle. A golden rose adorned each of her bare feet.

On her first apparition, February 11, 1858, the Blessed Virgin asked the girl to make the sign of the Cross and say the rosary with her. Bernadette saw her take the rosary hanging from her arms into her hands. This was repeated in subsequent apparitions.

Friends of the Rosary,

Merry and Holy Christmas!

Today, December 29, the Sunday following Christmas Day, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

This celebration emphasizes the importance of family life following the role model and virtues of the holy family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

With its challenges and joys, family life becomes a path to holiness as long as it is bonded in love and obedience to the Lord.

The Son of God became a member of a humble family. Jesus, the man-God, lives the family love of a father and a mother.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states,

“The Christian family is a communion of persons, a sign and image of the communion of the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit. In the procreation and education of children it reflects the Father's work of creation. It is called to partake of the prayer and sacrifice of Christ. Daily prayer and the reading of the Word of God strengthen it in charity" (CCC 2205).

Today’s feast is especially important as parents and children face many threats to the family being truly Christian.

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Friends of the Rosary,
When Peter said to Jesus (Mk 10:28-31), "We have given up everything and followed you," the Lord, knowing our weak nature, responded that anyone who follows Him will receive "a hundred times more now in this present age" and "eternal life in the age to come."
"Many that are first will be last, and the last will be first," He added.

Surrender all to God, living a life of complete abandonment to God’s Will, results in the fruit of the Holy Spirit, namely, love, joy, peace, hope, righteousness, and kindness. That's true freedom!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Friends of the Rosary,

Catholic bishops and leaders around the world are urging the faithful to respond to the anti-Christian Paris Olympics opening ceremony with fasting and prayer.

Last Friday's drag-queen and transgender-led parody of the Last Supper, along with the Golden Calf idol and even the Pale Horse from the Book of Revelation, are sparking a wave of denunciations. The spectacle was seen as a heinous mockery and public defamation of the Christian faith.

The Last Supper scene was part of the 1.5 billion euro (about $1.62 billion) spectacle to kick off the Olympic Games. It featured drag queens portraying the apostles and an overweight DJ as Jesus.

Several bishops encouraged Catholics to speak about this evil and act with love, charity, and firmness.

"The love saves France and the entire world poured out through the Mass, which came to us through the Last Supper," said a Bishop. "Inspired by the many martyrs who shed their blood to witness to the truth of the Mass, we will not stand aside and quietly abide as the world mocks our greatest gift from the Lord Jesus."

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, Pray for Us!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Friends of the Rosary,

Rest in Peace, Pope Francis!

Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio on December 17, 1936, passed away on Monday at the age of 88, reaching the end of his earthly pilgrimage.

"At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father," Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the Vatican camerlengo, announced. "His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church."

Francis recently spent more than a month in the hospital with double pneumonia. But he emerged from his convalescence on Easter Sunday to bless the thousands of people in St. Peter's Square and make a surprise popemobile ride through the piazza.

It was his last public appearance before his death.

As we celebrate Pope Francis’ life and legacy, we pray today's Rosary for the repose of his soul.

Pope Francis was a faithful pastor who spoke from the heart with mercy and affection. He remarked that the Catholic Church is a healing hospital to those wounded by our secular society.

We also reflect upon some of his words:

"There is an urgent need to see once again that faith is a light."

"The light of faith is unique, since it is capable of illuminating every aspect of human existence."
"Faith is born of an encounter with the living God who calls us and reveals his love."

"Transformed by this love, we gain fresh vision, new eyes to see; we realize that it contains a great promise of fulfillment, and that a vision of the future opens up before us."

"Faith, received from God as a supernatural gift, becomes a light for our way, guiding our journey through time."

"Yet since Christ has risen and draws us beyond death, faith is also a light coming from the future and opening before us vast horizons. It is a light in our darkness."

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!

Today's Rosary | Holy Rosary University - July 31, 2024, Memorial of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)
play

07/31/24 • 31 min

Friends of the Rosary,

Today, July 31, 1556, is the Memorial of St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), the founder of the Jesuits.

Ignatius was born to a noble family at Loyola in the Kingdom of Navarre.

After a cannonball fractured his left leg in 1521, while he was Captain Ignatius Loyola at the siege of Pampeluna, this soldier started to read about Christ and His saints, turning wholly to God.

He would equip himself for Christ's service through a good classical and theological education. Later, he composed the admirable book Spiritual Exercises.

The members of the Society of Jesus became the Church's shock troops in the battle against the spread of Protestantism in Europe.

After his convalescence, he went to Montserrat in Barcelona and hung up his arms before the altar of the Blessed Virgin. Then, he entered upon his knighthood in the army of Christ.

He had gotten a solid education in theology, grammar, and arts, while undergoing the hardest trials, even imprisonment and beatings, almost to death. He desired to suffer far more for the glory of his Lord.

At Paris, he was joined by nine companions from that University, men of different nations, who had taken their degrees in Arts and Theology. At Montmartre, he laid the first foundation of the Society of Jesus.

Ignatius sent St. Francis Xavier to preach the Gospel in the Indies. He dispersed others to spread the Christian faith in other nations, thus declaring war against paganism, superstition, and heresy, including Luther and the heretics of his time.

He made the restoration of piety among Catholics his first care, increasing the beauty of the sacred buildings, the giving of catechetical instructions, the frequency of sermons, and the sacraments.

He opened schools everywhere to educate the youth, women of evil lives, orphans, and other vulnerable people.

He devoted himself to serving God and rescuing his neighbor, and his power over the demons was extraordinary.

St. Philip Neri and others saw his countenance shining with heavenly light.

Ignatius of Loyola was celebrated for miracles and his great services to the Church.

Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
St. Ignatius of Loyola, Pray for Us!

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
