Podcaster Q&A
Tell us about yourself – what is your background?
I've literally done a bit of everything! I became a mum just before my 20th birthday. My sole focus for many years was doing what was best for my daughter. I have done the uni thing, I am a qualified nail tech and beauty therapist, I have a photography diploma and was a photographer for 10 years. I've worked in McDonald's, Safeway and the local shop and I've also worked in a number of offices. I love learning and I love working for myself. In my last JOB, I came up with an idea that led me here.
Why did you get into podcasting?
When I started my business in 2020 I knew I needed to create some form of content, I did blogging in my photography business and I didn't want to do that again. I also didn't want to have to get my house and self, video ready all the time. I've listened to Amy Porterfield since EP45 and I loved it. It was like she had her own Radio Show which is also something I looked into. I just assumed podcasting meant you needed a radio like setup thankfully I was wrong.
How did the idea for the show come about?
I rebranded in April 2023. Originally it was aimed at Wedding vendors in the UK to help them grow and streamline their business, I'm sure you can see the issue with that starting in 2020. It became more of a support centre and sharing space when I realised the business I had set out to do wasn't going to work I made the pivot to something I was being asked to do, teach podcasting. So I pivoted the podcast to business owners in general helping them grow their businesses and talking podcasting.
What do you hope listeners take from the show?
I hope they take actionable tips away from the episodes as well as a directory of experts who they can call if they need help with things in their business. Being a solopreneur can be very lonely so I hope my show makes them feel like they have a friend in business, me, who is always willing to share her friends, my guests, with them. I want them to know we are in it together.
What's been the biggest challenge for you?
My biggest challenge has been getting the podcast out there and heard by the right people. I have a great core of loyal listeners and I'm so grateful to them but I'd love to expand the reach and help more people.
How can your listeners support your show?
My biggest request is to share the podcast especially on social and directly with business friends. If someone shares an episode on Instagram it literally makes my week and I always reshare if I'm tagged. That is the best way to support the show. Also, rate and review that is awesome social proof for me to share and lets me know what you're loving.
Any future plans that you'd like to share?
Actually, I've something really exciting coming up in the new year! I don't want to spoil it so you'll have to subscribe to hear about it. But in 2024 there is going to be a shift and I hope the listeners love it!
Anything else you'd like to share?
I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank anyone who has listened to any of my episodes, especially to those who rate, review and share. It means the world to me I love producing the show and I don't want to ever stop so the more support the longer I get to stick around. So Thank You!
