Podcaster Q&A

Tell us about yourself – what is your background?

I'm a community builder, blogger, travel writer, photographic artist, business consultant, and strengths coach. In 2022 I became a Certified YouMap® Coach to help business owners find their strengths, communicate their skills, and align their business with their personal values.

Why did you get into podcasting?

In 2020 I launched an online community to help my friends find calm in daily life. We had over 30 virtual workshops (recordings on YouTube) which I co-facilitated. To help promote the events, I hosted an interview with the workshop leader and that was LIVE on Facebook, then I'd use the audio and share it out onto the podcast apps.

How did the idea for the show come about?

In 2021, I started to do more serious interviews when my community shifted to focus on helping entrepreneurs figure out how to launch courses, memberships, and programs online. Most of my revenue ended up coming from consulting, so I pivoted my business to helping community builders. That was how the show became the Community Strategy Podcast. (previously the Find Calm Here podcast)

What do you hope listeners take from the show?

The first season was 100 episodes and the goal for me with that was to learn what new community builders are doing to launch a course, program, or membership - and really understand what works. There are so many people on social media that said it's easy - but I wanted to learn from the people who are doing it, what it really takes to launch, and grow a membership site.

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

Growing an audience has been the biggest challenge with no support, no revenue, and no ad budget. I've worked extremely hard to figure out the right approach, and have worked with others in the podcast industry to better understand this evolving marketplace. The decision to end the podcast in 2022 was due to lack of financial resources to cover the expense and costs. Since writing the Creator to Community Builder book (soon to be published in 2023) I am happy to share that new audio expert pod

How can your listeners support your show?

I have several ways - the best way is to share the show with other community builders who might find my content valuable. The second best way is to book a call with me to talk about how I can help you - if you are a community builder - The third best way is to support the products, services, or donate to my business through Paypal or Buy Me a Cup of Coffee for my notes (which I take often at virtual events). Sharing is caring!

Any future plans that you'd like to share?

The Creator to Community Builder Book will be published in Fall 2023 - Check out more updates on the FindCalmHere.com website or go to Creator2CommuniyBuilder.com to get your copy!

Anything else you'd like to share?

“ A community based on shared wisdom means that while a host provides the education, tools, and resources, the ultimate goal is for members to share how they are implementing what they’ve learned. The challenge—and the joy—of building an ecosystem is that you’ll need to work extensively with ideal members from the beginning. You’ll need to seek out founding (or beta) members to hone in on a common problem they face. ” - Quote from Creator to Community Builder
