Your ADHD Besties

Hellooo dopamine-deficient dream boats 🛥️❤️‍🔥
In today's episode:
• We share our thought provoking (see: unhinged) ADHD thoughts of the week.
Open-plan homes; beautiful? Sure! But are they practical for our over-stimulated brains? Eyelid skin; Does it have a neck-skin-level of significance?
• Divergent Dilemma #1 - We discuss dyscalculia, a stand-alone neurotype which commonly occurs alongside ADHD. Tara shares her experience, the shame that she is letting go of and the concept of having a blank “brain paper” when it comes to math, numbers and her struggles with flight times, calendars, time zones etc.
• Divergent Dilemma #2 - Britt sends through an adorable voice note and we discuss the hilarious and fun relationship between dopamine, oestrogen, PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) and PMDD (Pre-menstrual Dysphoric Disorder) spoiler it’s neither hilarious or fun but is SO MUCH BETTER if we track it and understand the WHY that underlies it all.
• This week's Ireggy Seggy is unfortunately named Fanny Pack Hacks (so sorry guys) where we read YOUR ADHD HACKS and find out what actually works for our cute brains.
*in a French accent* RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Grace recommends HotDoc, a magical app that liberates our poor ADHD brains from the burdens of scheduling appointments and conversing with gatekeepers.
• Tara recommends Geneva Vanderzeil’s Instagram account for creative inspiration because keeping our hands busy and our brains engaged helps us to be regulated AF.
Sending ALLL the love and we'll be back in your very good👂's next THURSDAY!
Your ADHD Besties,
Grace & Tara xx
(don't you even DARE RSD)

12. Skin picking, nail biting 💅 and AuDHD friendships

Hiii adorable ADHD brains
In today's episode:
• We share our most ADHD moment of the week (Grace is still stressing about hers!)
• Divergent Dilemma #1 - a listener shares that she's embarrassed about her skin picking and feels she needs to hide her hands from her colleagues. We discuss why skin picking and nail biting is an ADHD 'stim', and is very NORMAL and nothing to be ashamed about. Plus we give our tips on how to look after your nails, seek medical help to prevent things getting worse, and be kinder to your gorgeous self.
• Divergent Dilemma #2 - a recently diagnosed AuDHDer (an autism & ADHD diagnosis) called "Lonewolf" shares that she has had trouble across her life making and keeping friends. RSD has been debilitating for her and means she can push people away and be sarcastic when she feels excluded. We unpack the big themes in this one, and our Autistic friend Nina, also offers a valuable perspective.
• This week's Ireggy Seggy is a brand new one called 'ADHD or NayDHD: The Bird Edition' 🐦 where we ponder the extremely overlooked scientific question: which birds are ADHD?
RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Grace recommends a genius strategy she's stumbled upon when she needs her husband to explain something boring like finances (spoiler: it actually makes her listen!)
• Tara recommends GLAMRDIP nails - a great solution if you want to stop nail biting or skin picking! Do at home, limited chemical smells and ADHD friendly! 💅
Enjoyyy, and we'll be back in your 👂's next THURSDAY babes!
Your ADHD Besties,
Tara & Grace xx

14. WE'RE IN ADHD BURNOUT 🫠 (and here's what helps!)

Hiiiiii fave babes! ✨

In today's episode we're in ADHD burnout mode but that's okayyy!

• We ‘AB-SOLUTELY’ discuss how Tara’s inability to feel time had her believing she could go from running 0km to 42km in the space of 3 months 😮‍💨 and Grace shares her obsession with Love Island/reality TV in general and why it's a balm for her soul.

• Divergent Dilemma - We half answer two gorgeous listener’s questions about managing the work life balance as ADHDers, as well as what ADHD burnout feels like, and celebrating the inconsistency of ADHD energy.

• In this week's Ireggy Seggy we shudder through various DERANGED "choose your torture" scenarios sent in by YOUR cute brains, and Tara shares a fact that will change the way you think about bird feathers/dream catchers forever. 🪶

Our Recs/unrecs? this week:

• Tara recommends "ocean mangoes" - trust us, it’s a sticky-less, dripless heaven that you will want to experience. She also does the most ADHD thing ever and submits her first official "rec retraction", because a show she previously recommended unexpectedly went very sideways. You'll need to listen to find out. 👀

• Grace recommends a HEAVENLY zucchini/courgette pasta recipe that A-list++ celebrity Stanley Tucci said changed his life (and has now changed Grace's 🍝), and some cute person conveniently wrote down the recipe on their blog which is linked here: Click for carbs!

Sending you all love and balanced neurochemical vibes until we are back in your beguiling👂's next THURSDAY!

Your ADHD Besties,

Grace & Tara xx
