I have just published Episode #18 of my Wild Nature Photography Podcast. In this podcast episode, we talk more about micro-fractures in CF cards in extremely cold weather and get to the bottom of what is causing this problem. If you are photographing in extremely cold environments for extended periods, this is definitely an issue you will want to be aware of.

Faces of the North is an outstanding example of a documentary photography book and rates five stars. Faces of the North is currently out of print; however, I highly recommend you consider adding it to your photographic library if you can find a copy.
