What Else Is Going On? With Taria S. Faison

I am thrilled to welcome back my first guest that has since truly become my friend, @hannahbrown host of the Not Aspirational podcast. Zooming with Hannah is so much fun and easy because we are two friends dissecting these sometimes crazy, sometimes jaw dropping, sometimes "they must be trolling us" reality shows. We first get into the Bachelorette and take a stroll down Ashley Iaconetti's bachelorette history, ugly crying faces and we ultimately agree that we are happy that Ashley and Jared's love story won in the end. Then we get into Tayshia and the our thoughts and feelings on the guys that are fighting for a rose, Tayshia's heart, maybe a part in Fight Club (Hey Noah! We see you!), Ed & Chasen and if former contestant Dale made the Bachelor text thread.
We end up getting back on a path of the past back down memory lane and talk Hannah & Jake and me and Cory (we knew what we wanted and the rest is history), Hannah becoming a mother to Little Cory (she's ready to allergy proof her home for him) and we catapult into what seems like another dimension and Hannah gives me her takes on the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, which has pleasantly surprised us. We touch on the wife that had a former Insta feud with Brandi Redmond and keeps hot sauce and vaseline in her bag and the wife (hey Mary) that hates the smell of hospital and thinks drinking water could have prevented leg amputation.
After the wild ride of RHOSLC, we touch on Bethenny Frankel and we end the podcast with Hannah making a pact with her future self and congratulating her many feature film lead roles and the Oscars that are sure to follow!

"Abby & Vanessa: Bravo's Realest Moms"

I am SUPER excited to be Zooming with two absolutely wonderful women...Abby and Vanessa hosts of the Real Moms of Bravo podcast! Abby and Vanessa have been best friends for many years and have shared their love of Bravo, their innermost thoughts, feelings, weddings and families with each other. Everything that best friends do. Then the world was hit with a pandemic, a murder and a black box on Instagram that paused the world but started conversations between people from all different backgrounds and beliefs and some from the same backgrounds and beliefs that previously weren't being had. And on this episode, Abby & Vanessa, best friends who share the same beautiful hearts but differ in ethnicity and race, talk to me about the conversations they had with each other and others when the crisis of the world made time slow down. We talk ally ship, colorism within Vanessa and I's culture (Vanessa is Dominican & Black and I'm Black) and Abby shares a conversation she had with her sons that gave me good chills and has me hoping for more allies like her!
And somewhere in between we touch on the housewives that may or may not be lightly scripted; but I know our conversation was 100 % real! And I am so grateful to have connected to these ladies!

"Mallory Wilkinson: The Real House Pins OC"

I am excited to share my conversation with Mallory who runs the @realhousepinsoc Instagram account and the successful Etsy shop Real House Pins OC. I first "met" Mallory in the dm's when she introduced herself, sent me her number and told me if my son or me and my family ever needed anything when we came to the OC, that her door was open. And since then, a friendship was born!
In this episode we talk, dog attacks and her detective skills (Megan King Edmonds could never), the OC and what it REALLY looks like (the demographics) and close family that are on the opposite side of the aisle from us and the fascination in watching them. We talk about therapy and the stigma in different cultures, anti- depressants, the need to talk more about ADHD in adults and being careful about misdiagnosing ADHD in children.
We also get into cherry picking culture and choosing when to call people out and when not to (your favorites versus people you don't like), when you feel guilty for watching certain Bravo shows but watch others, learning not to judge what others are watching (sometimes) and racist people who love to tan (you have to see the irony.) Mallory also shares a personal experience about being stopped by a cop and I share mine...and they were the same...almost and we talk about a video that demonstrates the lives of many black Americans.
We touch on how Mallory was raised not see anyone as an other, the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement and her path to becoming an ally.
Then we make a quick trip south and talk about The Real Peaches of Atlanta and COVID.
This episode was Mallory and I having real talk about all things real life...and we didn't put a pin in anything!
