Ep 92 How Neurofeedback Changed One Man's Life with Mindy Haukedahl + Client
Interview with Mindy Haukedahl and her client, Chris to share personal and professional experience on how effective Neurofeedback Therapy can be.
Chris had actually heard Well Connected’s podcast episode 78 where Mindy spoke on neurofeedback. As a patient of Mindy’s, he was inspired to share his personal story Chris had suffered since age 12 with PTSD, anxiety, and depression with no success in therapy. During the height of the pandemic, his symptoms went to the extreme, pushing him to try something new. After a few months of bravely pursuing psychotherapy and neurofeedback therapy, Chris went from being terrified of driving or being on Zoom calls to eagerly skydiving and proposing to his girlfriend!
While Mindy provides her own perspective and expertise as a therapist, Chris shares the very real fears that held him back in life and how tackling his mental health head on with the right care provider completely changed his life for the better.
We talk about the social barriers men face in addressing their mental health. Mindy explains why neurofeedback is such an appealing alternative to talk therapy for men in particular as it is data-driven and focused on brain functionality vs talk therapy.
Mindy Haukedahl received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in Family Studies and Master of Arts degree in K-12 School Counseling from Xavier University in Cincinnati. After moving back up to Minnesota in 2006, She got a job as a school counselor at an alternative
high school for at-risk youth. In 2014 she completed a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University. Mental health has always been her passion. In 2016 she became the Director of Counseling for New Life Academy in Woodbury, MN. She loves spending time with students as they process through life’s stressors, but it had always been a dream of hers to have a private practice, so she went back to school and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist through Adler Graduate School of Psychology.
She is the owner of Afton Therapy in Oakdale, MN and specializes in Individual psychotherapy, diagnostic testing for ADHD, and remote neurofeedback. She is fascinated with neuroanatomy and how human behavior is formed. She is a certified Brain Health Professional through Amen Clinics and certified in Neurofeedback through the BCIA (Biofeedback Verification International Alliance).

Dr. Michelle Wall and her husband, Ryan, have two daughters, Madelyn and Ellie, ages 3 and 1. Michelle is a pelvic floor physical therapist with a special focus on the pregnant and postpartum population. Just because she is a pelvic floor physical therapist doesn't mean she just treats the pelvic floor. She takes a holistic approach with her patients to determine the underlying causes for symptoms and pain, which often lie outside the pelvis. Michelle owns Moms in Motion PT, a mobile physical therapy practice where she treats all her clients in the comfort of their own homes. She is an athlete and became passionate about helping other moms after rehabbing her body after the birth of her first daughter and navigating the challenges of the medical system firsthand. In her free time, Michelle enjoys spending time outside with her family, going on walks, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
