There are a lot of good coaches out there and they often find themselves feeling ‘attacked’ when parents, players, and even other coaches talk about all the ‘bad apples’ out there. But do good coaches know exactly how bad the coaching has gotten on a wider scale over the past 10 to 15 years? If we live within our own lanes, silos, and stories, we might not be aware of what’s happening across the board or with those ‘other coaches’ in our club. In this episode, the guys better define and illustrate what a ‘bad coach’ is by providing clear examples they (and countless other parents/players) have witnessed, seen, and heard in and around gymnasiums over the past several years. The goal is to show parents/players that it isn’t them, they’re not alone, and remind good coaches to maybe think twice before they decide to defend ‘all coaches’ all the time...just as we used to do before gaining a broader perspective (by having our kids play in the system for years).
