Paintings are arriving at Saint Wendred’s ahead of Art & Horse Racing, the unique art exhibition on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May at Ilka’s yard. In this podcast you will hear interviews by co-host Stephen Wallis with local artist Clive Dawson who works mainly in acrylics, along with two American artists Diana Cook from upstate New York and Amanda Markel Bozeman, Montana. Diana devotes her time painting narrative scenes most often involving dogs. Amanda is an internationally collected bronze sculptor and visual storyteller. In the next episode you will hear from more artists who are set to exhibit their work at Art & Horse Racing. Ilka updates us on the news about her mare Just Once who is shortly due to foal in France . In this month’s episode Ilka and her co-host Stephen Wallis review Art & Horse Racing, the highly successful fineart exhibition which was held at Saint Wendred’s on 6th and 7th May. Over 130 items of artwork were on display in Ilka’s picturesque stable setting. The inaugural event was so popular that future Art & Horse Racing exhibitions are now being planned by Ilka. “It started with a little idea in the middle of the night in January,” said Ilka. The podcast features feedback from six of the fourteen international artists and Vantage Point Racing club member Debbie Nicholls adds her thoughts on the weekend in Newmarket. Ilka reveals further feedback from other artists, plans for the future along with details of the competition winner. But Saint Wendred’s is also a busy racing stable. Since Episode 11 Ilka’s leading filly Miss Bella Brand has won races at Doncaster and Windsor. Ilka reflects on the filly’s consistency and plans to send her to a listed race in Germany. In addition, Ilka updates us on Vantage Point Racing club horses Just Once and Kingwell. Just Once’s foal is progressing well in France while Kingwell ran 3rd at Leicester on 13 May.
