What do you want to know about breathwork?
I asked you to share your deepest questions about breathwork, and in this episode, I do my best to share the most important and interesting information in response!
This episode begins with a mini breathwork session, followed by a breakdown of many aspects involved in breathwork – including why I chose the breath pattern I chose and the various ways breathwork can support your nervous system.
The most frequently asked question was in regard to the nervous system and how using your breath can support you in coming out of dysregulation. Listen in to hear:
- How breathwork supports your nervous system health
- Why deep breathing decreases the over-activation of the amygdala (or fear center of your brain), why it lowers stress hormones like epinephrine and cortisol, and how it activates the prefrontal cortex of your brain to help you focus and become present.
- Ways in which breathwork can help you more effectively manage and cope with your emotions.
- How breathwork can potentially support you in safely processing and releasing traumatic memories through non-judgmental self-presence.
- Why you might choose one breath pattern over another.
- How breathwork pairs with meditation.
If you have further questions about breathwork, please send them into me to [email protected]

Holiday Minisode 2: The power of seeing your own value
Untethered with Jen Liss

What’s on your mind, unicorn? 🦄 Send me a text!
Have you ever felt like everyone else is the star on the Christmas tree? That, someday, you'd like to earn your spot at the top, too?
Unfortunately, this feeling is completely normal. In our society, most people actually feel less valuable than others, as if you're somewhere at the bottom while others are stars shining at the top. Our obsession with hierarchy distorts our self-perception and creates unnecessary pain and suffering that we inflict on ourselves – and on others.
But let me tell you something, my friend: We're all stars at the top of the Christmas tree!!
I learned this valuable lesson about putting others on a pedestal during 2023, and it has been challenging but transformative. Join me in this minisode where I debunk the myth of pedestal perfection.
In our discussion, we'll challenge the societal obsession with hierarchy and explore how seeing ourselves as equals can revolutionize our self-worth. We'll also delve into the ways in which elevating ourselves or others can distort your own value.
Let's walk into 2024 with a renewed sense of self-worth and a firm belief in our inherent value. It's time to shine brightly at the top of the tree, where we are all meant to be!

So, if you've been watering down your potent whiskey self to make yourself into a fruit punch, it's time to put down the juice and embrace your full-strength spirit.
Enjoy this short holiday minisode, where I'm sharing the lessons I learned along my own unique journey this year to offer you inspiration for a powerfully untethered 2024!

How to shift your thoughts and overcome fear – Creative Short Series
Untethered with Jen Liss
08/09/22 • 8 min
What’s on your mind, unicorn? 🦄 Send me a text!
Are you living a humdrum life? Whether you realize it or not, you might be paralyzed into a state of complete inaction – by your own mind. In this episode, I'll teach you a quick brain shifter that will snap you out of your usual routine and help you identify and overcome the fear that is holding you in place. (This is happening in more ways than you might currently see.)
What I teach in this episode sounds so silly and simple, and that's exactly why it can be difficult to convince ourselves to do it. However, I'd like to ask your cynic to step aside today and give this a try.
Because one of the best ways to tap into our creative goodness is to shift your brain out of the humdrum state it's in and activate some new neural pathways.
And the best way for you to build courage, increase your opportunities for connection and collaboration, and even to be a better leader or entrepreneur is to allow yourself to share imperfect things. This activity will do both of these things in a super safe, easy, and powerful way.
Here are the instructions:
- Think of something a Kindergartener could draw
- Draw that thing, using your non-dominant hand
- Take a photo of it and share it on social media
Check out the episode artwork to see my results from teaching this exercise in a recent class.

The Power of Prioritizing Yourself
Untethered with Jen Liss
01/02/25 • 19 min
What’s on your mind, unicorn? 🦄 Send me a text!
Have you ever felt exhausted from always putting others first, only to feel unappreciated and out of sync with yourself?
In this Thursday Thread episode, we’re pulling a key idea from Rhonda Parker-Taylor’s Tuesday conversation to talk about the importance of a “me-first” mindset. We’ll explore how prioritizing your own needs can strengthen relationships and lead to more fulfillment in your life.
You’ll hear why boundaries matter and how letting go of overworking and over-serving can help you reclaim your energy and focus on what truly matters. This isn’t about self-care as a buzzword—it’s about practical ways to honor your own happiness and align with your goals.
We’ll also challenge some of the societal messages (especially for women) that push us toward self-sacrifice and talk about how to shift away from that mindset. To wrap it up, I’ll guide you through a quick breathwork exercise to reconnect with your energy and purpose.

It’s time to stop worrying so much.
Untethered with Jen Liss
09/08/20 • 13 min
What’s on your mind, unicorn? 🦄 Send me a text!
How is worry, the silent thief, popping in to steal your present joy? This episode is for all kinds of worriers. (If you’re a level 5,000 worrier, listen to it at least twice!)
Jen talks about the journey she’s on to take down her personal arch-nemesis, how worry-thoughts make us less prepared to deal with bad situations, and she also shares the tactics she’s found to best wrangle this wily beast.
Tactics shared in this episode:
1. Write your worries down. Getting them out of your head is like designating a special worry period where it’s okay to think about all the worries for 10-20 minutes a day. You’re focusing on them in a productive way that gets them out of your brain and onto paper.
2. Every time you catch yourself having a worry-thought, do something positive. Walk around the block. Go get a drink of water. Pet your dog. Read a page of a book or an interesting online article. This helps your brain interrupt the worry pattern and teaches you that you have control over your worries.
3. Meditate. Yes, it seems like an easy, predictable answer. But seriously, meditation allows you to step back from your conscious worry so you can see how the thoughts come and go through your brain. You have the power to pause them anytime.
