What’s on your mind, unicorn? 🦄 Send me a text!
How is worry, the silent thief, popping in to steal your present joy? This episode is for all kinds of worriers. (If you’re a level 5,000 worrier, listen to it at least twice!)
Jen talks about the journey she’s on to take down her personal arch-nemesis, how worry-thoughts make us less prepared to deal with bad situations, and she also shares the tactics she’s found to best wrangle this wily beast.
Tactics shared in this episode:
1. Write your worries down. Getting them out of your head is like designating a special worry period where it’s okay to think about all the worries for 10-20 minutes a day. You’re focusing on them in a productive way that gets them out of your brain and onto paper.
2. Every time you catch yourself having a worry-thought, do something positive. Walk around the block. Go get a drink of water. Pet your dog. Read a page of a book or an interesting online article. This helps your brain interrupt the worry pattern and teaches you that you have control over your worries.
3. Meditate. Yes, it seems like an easy, predictable answer. But seriously, meditation allows you to step back from your conscious worry so you can see how the thoughts come and go through your brain. You have the power to pause them anytime.
