Unlock Your Child's Full Potential

Send us a text

This week's episode is a special one because I am not having a guest, I am not giving you the takeaways from a great book, I am tuning in solo and sharing my thoughts on the topic of helping our kids manage their emotional state. Resetting our emotional state can be a helpful practice for managing stress, anxiety, and other challenging emotions and the earlier our kids acquire this skill, the better.

Just the other day I had a challenging situation with my daughter which turned into a great opportunity for me to coach her on how to change her state. I realized that young children and even adults sometimes have trouble managing their emotions and getting out of a negative state.

Here’s a few things you’ll learn from the episode:

  • Why it’s important to avoid staying in a negative emotional state for long
  • What is an emotional home and how it determines the quality of our live
  • Coping strategies your kids can use to change their emotional state

#12: Encouraging curiosity and celebrating uniqueness - how we teach diversity with Maya

Today I share with you a special talk I had with Maya, a mom of 2 girls and an anti-bias education consultant. Our topic for the interview was fostering diversity but as always it led us to discuss the parent child relationship as a whole. Maya has been in early childhood education for a long time and she has a lot of tools in her toolkit. We talked about our own unconscious parenting patterns in triggering situations and the right way to apologize to our kids when we react in a disrespectful way. We reflected on why it’s important to encourage our children to ask questions and be the ones that are always ready to answer or at least help them find the answer.

#14: Parenting Through Adversity: Lessons in Courage and Mindfulness with Kristina Driscoll

Send us a text

Today I share an inspiring conversation with the lovely Kristina Driscoll from the "She's Brave" podcast where she helps women find their path to become brave, resilient and authentic. Kristina has learned how to be brave because she had to. Life has really thrown her some curveballs. She married her soulmate who was 24 years older than her and in 4 years they had their long-awaited child. Kristina’s husband was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's when their son was only 5 years old. She was the caregiver to them both for 12 years. In our conversation Kristina shares the unique lessons she had to learn as a mother and what she had to teach her son in order to be able to survive and thrive in this challenging situation.
Kristina emphasises the importance of living in the present, spending quality time with children, and seeking help and building a community of support. The conversation touches on therapy for children, the difficult decision of moving a loved one to a care home, and the myth of overprotective parenting.
