06/07/22 • 10 min
Macon, Georgia. June 26, 2011. Lauren Giddings had just completed her law degree at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. All she had to do was pass the bar exam and she would be fully qualified to practice law. Her plan was to move in with her boyfriend, David, in Atlanta, and start her career. But then Lauren disappeared without a trace. After not hearing from her for several days, her friends and family began to worry and contacted the police in Macon to report her missing. Also seemingly very concerned about Lauren's whereabouts was her neighbor and fellow law graduate, Stephen McDaniel.

Cold Case Friday: Murder on the Paris Métro: the double life of Laetitia Toureaux
It was past midnight on Thursday the 13th of May 1937 when Laetitia Toureaux exited the métro station and began making her way home. She had been working that evening in the cloakroom of L’As de Coeur, a nightclub in central Paris, and had to get up early next day for her shift in a shoe wax factory. Though the hour was late and the streets were quiet, Laetitia was not afraid. Because of her part-time work in the club, she was used to moving around the city alone at night – and, besides, it was only 50 metres (164 feet) from the Pierre-Auguste métro station to her home a 3 rue Pierre Bayle, a short street that leads to the famous Père Lachaise cemetery. This night, however, was not to be like all the others.
She had just arrived in front of her building and rang the doorbell for the concierge to let her when a man attacked her from behind. Laetitia turned and hit her assailant several times. In the meantime, the door opened and Laetitia was able to escape to safety into the hallway. The man fled.

Murder Monday: The Longo Family Murder
At first glance, Christian Longo appeared to be an attractive and charming family man. Friends, family, and the entire nation was stunned when he turned out to be a cold-blooded killer. In the late 1990s, Christian Longo’s life with his wife Mary Jane and three children Zachary, Sadie, and Madison seemed perfect from the outside. However, just a few days before Christmas in 2001, this picture-perfect family was destroyed.
On December 19, 2001, the body of 4-year-old Zachary Longo was found floating in a marina in Waldport, Oregon. Shortly after, Sadie Longo’s body was also discovered. The nation’s worst fears came true when eight days later, the bodies and remains of Mary Jane and Madison Longo were found stuffed in suitcases floating near the Longo’s apartment in Yaquina Bay. After each body was discovered, investigators placed the only missing member of the family, Christian Longo, on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list. Longo was on the run, nowhere to be found and the FBI continued to investigate why a seemingly perfect husband had murdered his entire family.
