When you are observing the news or a social media post, when someone is trying to convey a message, ask yourself who is to benefit? This is a term called "Cui Bono"
With cui bono, you can find facts or sources of an individuals true intentions. It is also another way to determine your own biases without realizing it because if the information you absorb gives you satisfaction without seeking sources or facts, you have a bias for/against that information.
