Kiowa Chief Satanta – known as the great orator – was an influential leader of his people and participant in both battles of Adobe Walls. Arrested by Custer. Very close to killing General Sherman. Eventually tried for murder - found guilty - and sentenced to prison, Satanta allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the 2nd floor of a Huntsville Penitentiary Hospital. Or at least that’s how the story goes.
