Powerlifting, something I found when I needed it most and I didn't even know. It's now part of who I am, I don't know who I am if I can't squat, bench and deadlift!
Powerlifting has changed my outlook of myself and how I see my body. It's been incredibly empowering for me in body confidence, mental grit i.e. resilience and it’s changed how I perceive my ability to do something - I know I can do anything I set my mind to.
It's also been incredible for my female clients, it's such a useful tool that unknowingly lifting heavy makes them feel powerful and love themselves more for it. Not to mention they get excited to train, they don't drag themselves to the gym unless it's ya know, ... period week (us females can relate!).
Powerlifting is special to me and I've grown to realise that more and more of late being back in the gym after the 7 month lockdown here in Melbourne 2020.
I will compete in my second powerlifting comp February 20th 2021 and looking to hit some big numbers and a total of over 300kg... I'm SO EXCITED! BRING IT.
Stay tuned on my socials @raquelfitpt for powerlifitng comp updates!

Binge eating is a huge, often under the radar and complex issue and majority of women I meet have some form of food relationship issue they're battling!
Binge eating is a learnt behaviour and something we often internalise. I silently suffered with this issue going through binge, restrict, guilt, motivation REPEAT cycle for many years and I talk about it in brief and what it was like for me throughout in little snippets.
I love to educate and empower women to take their freedom back with food and within this episode there's plenty of gold nuggets to take home and start.
This is by no means a rule book, it's my own experience that I'm more than happy to share. I'm so grateful that my food battles have healed and I no longer am controlled by food.
I explore the most common themes of food issues clients come to see me with AND my 5 tips on how to heal your relationship on your own.
If you think someone you know would benefit from this open discussion please don't hesitate to share it with them.

Expectations to me, sit comfortably with comparison, unrealistic goal setting and how much we consume of other people’s perfect content on social media - which doesn’t motivate us or help our self esteem sometimes.

How much time have you wasted scrolling and comparing your body to someone you think is gorgeous, perfect, amazing and maybe you’re even looking for flaws?

Also I think expectations whether we created them ourselves or feel we have to meet the expectations of someone like a boss, a parent, a friend, a partner - carry a lot of weight on our shoulders.

If they go unchallenged and unchecked you will be faced with crippling body dysmorphia and a lot of self manifested pressure.

Everyone is different, which is why no-one can do the same plan and have the same outcome.

Don’t be attached to the ideas of your 6 year old self
Don’t be attached to timelines you saw on the internet for 20 to 30 year olds
Don’t be attached to social media.PERIOD.

They stop us from living at our highest self in the present.

What if the deadlift, often viewed with skepticism, is actually key to unlocking your fitness potential? Join us as we tackle the myths and misconceptions that surround this misunderstood exercise. By comparing it to everyday actions like picking up a box, we highlight its inherent simplicity and offer reassurance to those hesitant about incorporating deadlifts into their routines. Our discussion sheds light on the importance of proper form and technique, ensuring you engage the right muscles like the hamstrings, quads, core, and the thoracic region, to prevent undue lower back strain.
