During an autumnal picnic in the community garden, Sinead reveals an unusual dying wish which will involve Kirk getting his kex off. TFD wakes up on Wednesday and decides to make a grab for half of Speed Daal much to Alya’s disgust. A mishap at Weathy County’s turnstile ends in Chesney’s living room filling up with boxes of nappies and Bernie revealing herself to be a PR guru. Shona might need to wait twelve months for that Mother of the Year award and an old face at the jail makes David think that a riot might not be that bad an idea after all. Elsewhere, Ali confides in Toyah, Dev struggles with raising a teenaged daughter, Craig and James are going running together, and the world may just need to go on without knowing what Bethany thinks happens in a New York ad agency.

A slightly longer episode as we cover this week and the tail end of last week. It would appear that Kev is disinterested in renewing his Weathy County season ticket while Sophie manages to forgive Paula of stuff that she probably didn’t need to forgive. Kate wants to keep her room at the Rovers and not pay rent while she has a perfectly good room over the road and she doesn’t take kindly to Jenny’s plans to convert her upstairs (but not like that) into a B&B. Robert’s lying goes to such extents that we have Inception level lies within lies and we’re all going to need a wee dreidel spinner to remember just what is the truth anymore. Abi gets her job back at Kev’s garage and then immediately lays the ground work to lose that job as quickly as possible, although to be fair, she does so with a lovely new haircut. Claudia decides that Ken doesn’t need four brown jumpers. Eileen, inexplicably, agrees to continue a relationship with Jan who has openly lied to her several times and quite frankly, she gets the boyfriend she deserves at this point. Bernie steals a tree and shows Chesney her floof.

Another week peppered with If You’ve Been Affected By This Storyline storylines, but done incredibly well. Paul realizes that his memory of events with Kel may be unreliable and in the Alley of Doom (h/t @merseytart), he comes to a startling realization. Jade is getting her feet under Fiz’s table and her mitts in Fiz’s sideboard and seems to be ingratiating herself very well, with perhaps only Evelyn wondering if our Brummie Mary Poppins is all she’s cracked up to be. Kev’s sister, Debbie, makes a very welcome return and despite being off the show for decades, looks like she’s never been away. She arrives with some sad news about Auntie Vi and some potentially awesome news about Kev’s bank account. Michelle continues to be a cow and not content with keeping two women on the go, Robert takes to impersonating Steve McDonald to get a cheffing job. Asha’s date with Corrie Corey ends up with spilled drinks, an assault from Pastel-Blue with a splurge gun, a birds and the bees talk from Mary, and a heart-breaking scene with Dev who realizes that helping his daughter is going to require more than telling her everything is going to be okay. Adam continues his pursuit of Gary, but not like that. Fiz gets a job, loses the job, gets the same job back again. A woman decides not to buy clogs.

It’s been a while since Paul has been a happy-go-lucky-cheeky-chappy and there’s no sign of that guy returning any time soon, because, instead, a blast from the past in the shape of his ex-step-father has turned up on the scene and despite Billy’s best efforts, Paul’s demons refuse to surface. Daniel insists that Sinead resume treatment and refuses to contemplate a future with her in a hospice, a brace of decisions that come back to take a munch out of his posterior before the sun has gone down, which forces Sinead and Beth to plan The Purge and Sinead to reveal how she wants to be buried. It’s Ed’s birthday and Aggie’s plans for a birthday party cause three or four storylines to combine, culminating in a family member confessing a deeply-held secret to Bethany. Suffering severely from withdrawal, Ali finds an ally in Toyah who is allowed, for the first time in a while, to get some use out of that therapy training she got all those years ago. Elsewhere, no matter how hard Gary tries to be the tough guy, he has no shortage of blokes lining up to question his authority; Ryan won’t pay him back, and now Derek looks to exploit one of many flaws in Gary’s master plan, Jenny’s anniversary with Johnny this year doesn’t feature her getting drunk on her own in a hotel room, but does include Dev trying to flog her some past their sell-by date blooms, Mad Max’s issues are continuing to fester, and Steve’s new haircut is better than anyone could’ve hoped.

Another podcast episode recorded on a Saturday morning finds Helen and Gav a little sleepier, and far more over-the-place, than usual. If seeing Emma upset last week was heart-breaking, Yasmeen upset gives that emotion a very strong run for its money as Tim’s Dad’s gaslighting goes to horrendous new levels. Daniel hasn’t really been all that unbearable recently but he kinda makes up for it when he spills gazpacho soup into the lap of one of Nathan’s buddies and indirectly gifts Craig the temporary power of flight. Emma’s Not Dad’s funeral is this week and Steve is determined to find out the truth while avoiding Tracy and her preening scissors and bloodlust. Elsewhere, the truth of the Bailey’s arrival on the street finally comes to light and we only have to endure a little bit of Gemma’s pee to get there, Eileen’s back on the switch where she can at least earn some money while being grumpy, and Max goes mental with a plastic cricket bat.

A shortened week on The Cobbles sees Ken deliver a soliloquy to beat all soliloquies. Ali and Maria’s hugely questionable relationship come to a perhaps temporary closure when he falls asleep at vital moments during the plot line. Dev takes Asha to see an utterly fabulous Dr Gaddas but still manages to ground Asha and Aadi simultaneously. Robert is presented with something of a Sophie’s Choice between waking up to a naked Michelle in Majorca or just getting on with his work in the Bistro kitchen. Sophie is off to Cambodia so Brooke Vincent can finally have her baby, David teaches that bloke with all the pen on his face how to cut hair, Ken is a jolly good fellow, and Emily’s Skype call is hugely disappointing. But Norris is back, so that’s okay.

Eileen’s history with dodgy builders looks set to continue as Liz digs up some dirt on Jan, who it turns out is Polish after all. DS Beckett is keen to remind us all that the roof collapse happened four months ago, a girl died, and no one has been brought to justice, which gets Nick’s and Gary’s knickers in varying knotted states, and mugs may or may nor go missing and unreported. Roy’s wiring is still in a bit of a fankle so he moves in with Tyrone, much to Evelyn’s chagrin who thinks Roy has his eyes on her unmentionables. Maria’s desperate for a man and then men she meets this week are notably desperate with one in particular being sent home with his tail between his legs. The Knicker People realize they’re actually Packing People and are keen to get the factory back up and running again, but because they’re now shareholders, they’re going to have to forgo their bonus to pay for the repairs and Beth IS NOT happy about this development as she has Love Island plans for her money. For Ches and Gemma, stuff also happens.

Another enjoyable week on the Cobbles sees Gary try his hardest to upsell on people’s stolen passports, later attempting to shift second-hand 10p mix-ups for £17.40, Gail unreasonably thinks that Audrey should forgive and forget the chaos that her offspring have created and Audrey looks like she’s coming round until an unfortunate spelling of Nigel Havers puts paid to that, and Dev’s heading out of the show for a while and rather than think of something to keep his kids occupied for a few months, the show takes the path of least resistance and sends them all on a plane to India, much to Evelyn’s joy. Meanwhile, Gemma’s a twin; her mum was a twin; her nanna was a twin; she really likes the movie Twins, but she and Chesney aren’t quite prepared for the number of buns in this particular oven and they take turns passing out, and Peter and Carla have found a bed for in a lovely facility but it means moving to Carlisle for a bit. So that’s what they do. They take Simon, because why not. Elsewhere, Tim’s relationship with Tiny may be over before it begins when Sally’s syndicate falls apart quicker than a game of Jenga on a pogo stick, Norris and his chums reminisce about drag nights and Eartha Kitt and fables from Commonwealth Games of yesteryear before he gets in that big black taxi to Edinburgh, and in particularly sad news, Sarah’s phone was not insured.

It’s another tough week for Carla given she doesn’t know if she’s Zola Budd or Doctor John Nash from one day to the next. One minute she’s leaving a bloody trail along the Cobbles from her battered bare feet, the next she’s solving complicated mathematical problems with a marker on Ken’s wallpaper while thinking the crossword is speaking to her. Meanwhile, Sarah’s pleasant, helpful attitude to a request from the police may well be enough to ensure Nick and David end up in jail for Easter, and Natalie stays off the coke long enough to put in a decent trial at the Barber’s, but will it be enough to get the job? In other news, Hardman Rick is definitely not cut out for a career in children’s entertainment if his puppetry skills are anything to go by, Sinead rings a bell while Daniel decides that a humanist christening is more in keeping with their wedding (which definitely wasn’t a thing), Chesney and Gemma plan a filthy getaway to a caravan site and do some practicing on that poor couch, Abi is caught —ahem— taking the TV remote upstairs again, and Steve's heart is older than Ken.
