The Talk of the Street: A Coronation Street Podcast

Eileen’s history with dodgy builders looks set to continue as Liz digs up some dirt on Jan, who it turns out is Polish after all. DS Beckett is keen to remind us all that the roof collapse happened four months ago, a girl died, and no one has been brought to justice, which gets Nick’s and Gary’s knickers in varying knotted states, and mugs may or may nor go missing and unreported. Roy’s wiring is still in a bit of a fankle so he moves in with Tyrone, much to Evelyn’s chagrin who thinks Roy has his eyes on her unmentionables. Maria’s desperate for a man and then men she meets this week are notably desperate with one in particular being sent home with his tail between his legs. The Knicker People realize they’re actually Packing People and are keen to get the factory back up and running again, but because they’re now shareholders, they’re going to have to forgo their bonus to pay for the repairs and Beth IS NOT happy about this development as she has Love Island plans for her money. For Ches and Gemma, stuff also happens.

For the whole week, Michelle is initially suspicious. Paul does not take kindly to Billy’s interference but very quickly manages to move on, leaving Sean to appear quite butch to Beth who is keen, but not as keen as Issy, to take some photographic evidence of such. Steve’s partnership with Michael is at least as stupid as previous partnerships with Tim but, perhaps for the first time, this involves a missing horse that’s impersonating a unicorn and Sean has to re-evaluate his relationship with Co-Op sandwiches. Michelle is initially suspicious and Robert, the world’s worst liar, doesn’t even have the common sense to switch his phone on to silent. Kirk is back and Beth is taking more photos while Sinead comes to terms with the results from her latest scan, and Daniel comes to terms with the fact that he and Sinead aren’t really married after all. Nick does not settle into prison life thanks to a weird Scottish cell mate and a bloke covered in pen and he contemplates doing the unthinkable; telling the truth. But Leanne has other ideas. Roy’s wiring needs attention more than Evelyn needs a double brandy and Cerberus needs a floor sausage. Michelle is initially suspicious.

We're away this weekend, so it's a shortened podcast covering Monday and Wednesday's episodes. Gary of all trades and master of none finds himself trying out a new role, which is all a bit like In At The Deep End with Chris Serle off of out of the 80s (hi, kids). Ali reacts ridiculously while tending Maria’s twisted ankle and then Michelle tears her a strip when she catches her with a new beau. Sucks to be Maria. Gemma’s mum, Bernie, shows up and is more Gemma’s mum that anyone could have reasonably guessed, but she does shed a light on Gemma and Paul’s real names and wastes no time at all in making an indecent proposal to a terrified Chesney. Evelyn has very exacting standards when it comes to electrical work while Mary takes a more direct approach to getting her point across. Kev suddenly has a problem with Paula, Liz and Tracy find out the secrets of Steve’s gym bag, and Kirk has an itchy arse.
