The Sweetest (and Toughest) Job

Our world looks different right now. Many families find themselves in situations where parents are working from home, families need to stay home only venturing out for essentials, schools are closed and children are now learning from their homes. This is not a great shift to Homeschooling but instead a shift to remote learning. My very amazing Mom, Brenda Colgate, joins me on this episode to talk about this shift and how to find balance and think about remote learning during these uncertain times.
My Mom Brenda has taught elementary school for 25 years. She earned her Elementary Education degree from San Diego State University and her Masters in Education from University of Connecticut. She is GATE certified, has a CLAD certification and is a Tech Coach for her school in Southern California. She also has a sixth year professional diploma in Exercise Science. In addition to her robust teaching credentials and certifications she taught fitness for 30 years and developed a kids fitness program called Silly Willy Workout.
Some Highlights from the episode include:

  • Finding and maintaining balance when shifting to remote learning with your kids
  • How to look at Educational Technology and screen time
  • Social/Emotional piece to kids shifting to remote learning
  • How to look at getting schoolwork done every day/week to stay on track
  • Making time for play and exercise in your daily routines and schedules
