Episode 113: Inmate Released Due to COVID Murders His Victim
What is going on with states releasing inmates like wild fire? On July 29th Ibrahim Bouaichi murdered the woman who alleged that he raped her. He was released from a Virginia jail because his lawyers claimed that the coronavirus put him and other inmates at risk. He was released on $24,000 bond under the condition he stay at home. He didn't.
This is not uncommon. Several other violent inmates were released because of COVID only to also murder other victims. California has already released over 17,000 inmates, many of them violent offenders, in the past few months. In this episode we talk about the uphill battle advocates face and how these secret releases of inmates is devastating to victims of these inmates.
