The Small Queendom Podcast - 23: Gaslighting, I've experienced this, have you?
play

11/12/18 • 27 min

Have you ever heard of "gaslighting"? It can be a bit of a buzzword but what does it actually mean? It's actually a fairly common, albeit harmful, form of manipulation and control. It causes someone to second-guess their own experiences, opinions, memories and instincts. People who have experienced gaslighting feel like they are constantly walking on eggshells, apologizing for themselves, have a difficult making basic decisions, and a lot more. In this episode, Leah unpacks what it is, examples of what this looks like and how to be more aware of when this could be happening to you!

The Small Queendom Podcast - 60: That Juicing Life: Food Entrepreneur & Innovator Nicole Dyer
play

10/21/19 • 55 min

Today I get to introduce you to one of my favorite people, Nicole Dyer. Nicole is the owner and founder of White Birch Food & Juice in Southwest Virginia and represents so many wonderful things. On top of being a young female food entrepreneur in a small southern town, Nicole has a well rounded approach to health, wellness, and how to tune in to what your individual body needs. We talk about juice cleanses, my not so great experience with celery juice, Ayurvedic principles of the different bodies and what it means to simultaneously build something out of passion and do the inner work. I think you’re going to like that and I know for a fact White Birch will find a spot on your bucket list for the near future.

The Small Queendom Podcast - 65: Our 1st Trip to Disney - Here's What Happened!
play

11/25/19 • 75 min

Adam is back on the show and we give you the play by play of our Disney trip! It's another long episode, but we tried to give some tips for all of the other non-disney families considering taking their first trip. We had a wonderful time and talk about our highlights from each park, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios & Epcot, while visiting with our 6 and 3 year olds. We also talk about what we liked and didn't like about our resort, how we navigated transportation with a double stroller, and which parks we wished we had more time to explore. Shoutout to Danielle Williams who helped Leah plan the basic agenda, sign up for Fast Passes, and make dining reservations. Her help and guidance truly made the difference in us enjoying our time. (*not sponsored*) If you want Danielle to help you plan your Disney vacation you can find her ON FACEBOOK or email her directly: [email protected]

** Due to holiday travel, no show for 12/2 but we will resume the following week one more time before taking time off for Christmas.**

The Small Queendom Podcast - 63: Don't Quit: You're in the Messy Middle!
play

11/11/19 • 9 min

Recently I attended a business conference for women and we were prompted to write a letter of encouragement for someone in the room. My stream of consciousness encouragement immediately turned to not quitting even when in the messy middle. I think a lot of us feel like we are in the middle of things and feel ready to throw in the towel. This is your pep talk to keep. going. don't. quit. Imagine it's just you and me having a pep talk on the phone. "Don't Quit" By John Greenleaf Whittier When things go wrong as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is strange with its twists and turns As every one of us sometimes learns And many a failure comes about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow— You may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out— The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell just how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit— It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Welcome to Season 2! It feels great to be back with the show. In today’s episode I hope to leave you with a couple really useful nuggets how I tackle each challenge that comes my way. Many of my tips here I use daily.

Is it just me or does it feel like life is made up of one hard thing after the other? And that’s just the day by day, not to mention if we actually have ambition to live at a higher level of wellness, goals, or healthy relationships! I personally believe doing hard things is like a muscle that can be trained and honed and with 3 simple ingredients ( tools, skillset, mindset ) you can take on any challenge with EASE. The second half of the show I give a little life update and share some things I have been working on. Season 2 greets us with a podcast facelift, new music, new guests, and more! Also the podcast now has an INSTAGRAM be sure to follow it for all the BEHIND THE SCENES and more: www.instagram.com/smallqueendompodcast

If you would like to support the show and help me keep it sustainable I would love for you to check out the links and services I offer and of course, share the show with a friend!
