Episode 84: Overcoming Fear Factors in the Writing Business

Are you scared to start your writing business? In today's episode, I am talking about how to overcome the fear of starting your writing business.

In one of the episodes with Shana Dewitt, she said something interesting, and I quote, "No matter how great you are, or the skills and experience you have, those aren't the things that keep you from growing your business. It's your self-doubt."

Here are steps to help you conquer that fear:

Post on Facebook
I hear a lot from writers that they don't trust themselves. I don't know how to get over that except to do some self-confidence booster for yourself and getting in a tribe that can help you with that.
In my own personal experience, one of the biggest confidence boosters that I've done is I posted on Facebook of what were the best qualities about me. I was told of really beautiful and kind words like I'm an incredible nurse, writer, a great mother, friend and etc.
Find a Supportive Tribe
In this world of negativity, it is so easy to say that you are not good enough, or you are not gonna make it. It is stopping you from starting.
The best thing you can do is surround yourself with the people that support you the most.
They say that these preconceived ideas from the time we were seven years old are really what shapes our mentality for adulthood.
If someone told you at a young age that you are good enough or you were not smart enough, you have to think of those things. What might have happened in the childhood that's holding you back from starting your business?

Yoast is a WordPress plug-in that makes it easy for your site to meet the highest technical SEO standards. A tool that you can use when you write a blog post. It is like a traffic system - Red means got a lot of work to do, Yellow - getting there, Green - good and publishing that. There is a free and paid option to choose from.
Meta Description
When you go to google and search something it gives you a preview text and that is the meta description. In there you want to include a keyword for whatever you’re writing about.
Keyword
When you write stuff be mindful of keywords. Include them in an H1, H2 heading when you start to write because that will rank it as well but don’t stuff it with keywords.

Learning SEO strategies is such a skill that you really want to start developing because you can really add value to your work which people will want and buy because you have the skill.

It takes time to get rankings for your content because people have had stuff that’s called evergreen that can be used over and over and it is not timely. You may never make it to number one on google but you can make it pretty close.

The worst year ever.
2020.
Was it?
Not for The Savvy Scribe. :)
The doors for the Implementation Co-Op are closing December 31, 2020 at 11:59 EST!
They will not open until at LEAST April.
Refecting on 2020 and my story.
Going back to the first quarter.
I decided to launch the Plan, Create, Launch, Land and Grow Your Health Writing Course.
I learned how to create a course, learned to script the content in order to add to the course. I also learned to find a great platform from the start to host it.
I also connected with Catherine Burger who was able to help me provide CEUs for those who are taking the course.
I added a new workbook and digital planner for those course students.
Guests on the podcasts! I have learned SO much from them. I took a challenge to find guest

I thrive to keep doing this show based on reviews.
Second quarter, I was able to host a live workshop which was amazing!
Then, COVID-19 hit. I had to pivot and I cover how I did that.
I started doing more of a project management side and subcontract with nurses. I also hired a great VA and I pivoted to an agency model. I brought on 2 editors.
