The Robyn Graham Show - Success without Social - Life and Business Growth Strategies for Christian Women, Coaches and Service Providers
12/10/24 • 35 min
These essential strategies to master sales include shifting your mindset and integrating effective branding, marketing, and sales systems.
Embrace the CEO MindsetMoving from an entrepreneur mindset to a CEO mindset involves letting go of the do-it-all mentality and focusing on being the master of vision and strategy. Focus on doing the things only you can do, and hire a team to accomplish other tasks over time. This allows you to concentrate on high-level strategic initiatives. When you stop overthinking and let go of the need to handle everything, you are less exhausted and have more energy to continue building your purpose-driven business.
Understanding Branding, Marketing, and How to Master SalesBranding, marketing, and sales form the foundation of business success.
BrandingYour personal brand defines who you are and what you stand for. It should be centered around your values. Your unique personal brand is what your clients see and feel; ultimately, it's their perception of you. To maintain a strong brand identity, your personal branding should be consistent across all platforms.
MarketingMarketing is an attraction conversation; it is about attracting and getting people to look at your offerings.
SalesSales is a conversion conversation. It is not enough to have people look at you. Your marketing messaging must be clear and direct people where to buy.

Friday Faith Foundations - Prepare Our Hearts for Jesus
The Robyn Graham Show - Success without Social - Life and Business Growth Strategies for Christian Women, Coaches and Service Providers
12/08/23 • 9 min
Yesterday morning I emailed a list of gift ideas for business owners and shared a few of our family traditions. As I was typing the list, it made me realize how much focus we, as a society, have on gift-giving, pleasing others, and focusing on things that don't represent the true meaning of Christmas. It made me re-think the real meaning of the season, to prepare our hearts for Jesus.
Why should we prepare our hearts for Jesus?Oftentimes, especially for business owners and entrepreneurs, December is a time of reflection on what goals we met, what goals we didn't meet, how much money we made, and/or how many clients we had. All of this, in addition to purchasing gifts, pleasing others, and even wanting more for ourselves.
Christmas is more than all of those things. December is a good month to reflect on more than goals, revenue, and gifts. It's a time to prepare our hearts for Jesus and receive His grace, the true meaning of the season.
Evaluate before you celebrateI always encourage my clients to evaluate what they do. What worked, what didn't work, what went well, what could be done differently to be better next time.
Preparing our hearts for Jesus is similar, but way more powerful.
Throughout the year we make many decisions, some good, some not so good. Because we are human, we sin and do things that may have hurt someone else, or ourselves. It's easy to hold onto guilt and shame when we focus on what went wrong instead of what went right. But 1 John 1:9 reminds us that if we confess our sins, we are forgiven. We don't have to hold on to the past, or the shame and guilt of past decisions, experiences, or mistakes.
Christmas is a beautiful time to not only reflect on what's been good or bad but to prepare our hearts to receive the gift of Jesus. Imagine the sacrifice God made to send Jesus to earth in human form. And he did it all for us.
I love the Christmas song, Mary Did You Know by Pentatonix. The first few verses bring tears to my eyes. You can listen to the song on Spotify or wherever you listen to music.

Once your book is published, you don't get to relax. You still need to market your book if you want to continue to get sales and reviews, which ultimately increases sales.
Post-publication, you still need to market your bookIn this Thinking it Through Wins and Wisdom episode of The Robyn Graham Show, Connie Jo Miller asked Robyn how to market your book post-publication. As a new author who reached Amazon best-seller status, Connie Jo Miller wants to continue building momentum for increased book sales.
Strategies to market your book- Humble brag - if you don't tell people about your book, and that you are an author, they won't know. When you have the opportunity, tell your friends and people you meet that you are an author.
- Include search engine optimization on your "author" website. Write blog posts about your book, your author experience, your creative process, etc. to include depth of SEO to help others find you. Be specific about the genre you are publishing in.
- Host or go to local events. This includes your local library, networking meetings, conferences, schools, etc. If you are like Connie Jo and are a children's author, do a read-along or story-time at the library or a local bookstore.
- Email list - send reminders to your email list about your book and your author journey. Do this especially around holidays so that people understand how great it is to give books, your book especially, as a gift.
- Ask people who have read your book to write a book review. This will help booksellers see that your book is well received and they will promote it for you.
- Donate books to the local library or schools. Children will like it and want to buy it or gift it. In addition, you can donate a book or raffle basket for a fundraiser to increase awareness.
- Create a lovey or stuffed animal to accompany the book.
- Do podcast interviews.

Connie Jo loved the word bungalow: how it sounded and the picture it brought to her mind. Bungalow was the first word on her “Words I Love” list. Many, many have followed. If Connie Jo reads or hears an usual new word, she has to stop, look it up, and write it down. British murder mystery shows have added many words to her list. Her desire to share uncommon words and inspire their use in day-to-day conversations catalyzed Betty Bartholomew and the Vanishing Begonias.

Friday Faith Foundations - You need self-discipline to succeed
The Robyn Graham Show - Success without Social - Life and Business Growth Strategies for Christian Women, Coaches and Service Providers
11/17/23 • 15 min
We face many things in life, and if we want positive outcomes, we need self-discipline. It enhances our lives. We achieve more and are ultimately happier. The happier we are, the more success we have.
What does the Bible say about self-discipline?In 2 Timothy 1:7 we read, "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline."
There we have it. God gave us self-discipline. And if he gave it to us, we are to use it. We may find it hard to be self-disciplined, but God gave us the Holy Spirit to help us. It is like a muscle. We have it, but if we don't use it, it won't get stronger. We build on our ability, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to be self-disciplined.
What are the benefits of self-discipline?Many! Let's take a look at a few of the areas of our lives influenced by self-discipline.
Health - physical and mentalAs you know, health is paramount. We have these incredible miraculous bodies and minds but we have to care for them. You must have a level of self-discipline if you are going to maintain a healthy mind and body. Eating healthy and exercising takes energy and many days it's easier to skip the workout and eat on the go instead of practicing healthy habits. Instead of thinking of either as a punishment, think of them as habits that you've created to nourish your mind and body.
Reframe your thoughts about the benefits of eating healthy and exercising. Then, create and implement a strategy to visualize what your habits will look like, and what you know you can adhere to. Take action consistently. You need self-discipline for all three, mindset, strategy, and action. If you aren't disciplined and don't adhere to the strategy and action, you won't succeed and ultimately, put yourself at risk.
If it's too hard to adopt healthy eating and start exercising at the same time, choose one, and then add the other. But exercise is equally important to your mental health as it is to your physical health. The same with eating healthy whole foods. When you have self-discipline, you choose to take positive action and do the mindset work to reframe your thoughts, you create a strategy and implement it, and you take action consistently. The food you eat influences how you think and feel so self-discipline to eat healthy is of utmost importance.
It may feel like a sacrificeIn Romans 12:2, Paul tells us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will." Sometimes, we must do the hard thing and not conform to what society is influencing us to do or think.

What is Public Relations and how to get featured in the media during a crisis.
The Robyn Graham Show - Success without Social - Life and Business Growth Strategies for Christian Women, Coaches and Service Providers
03/26/20 • 52 min
Corporate and law firm leaders call on Gina for high-stakes public relations, crisis planning, and incident response support including high profile litigation media relations. One of the most widely acknowledged experts on legal marketing and law firm public relations, Gina is a sought-after speaker and media expert. Listed among the Lawdragon Global 100 Leading Consultants and Strategists to the Legal Profession, Gina published the 2nd Edition of her book Everyday Public Relations for Lawyers, in 2019.
She founded and continues to lead Furia Rubel Communications, the award-winning PR and marketing agency that has become a leading legal marketing and professional service communications boutique. The full-service marketing and public relations shop has been listed among the leading agencies by the National Law Journal, The Legal Intelligencer, New Jersey Law Journal, and Philadelphia Business Journal. Under Gina’s direction, Furia Rubel provides strategic planning, marketing, public relations, media training, and content marketing services to a variety of specialized industries.
Gina’s legal background complements her unparalleled intuition as a client advocate and business diplomat, allowing her to partner with professional clients to achieve their objectives. She and the Furia Rubel team are always focused on the clients’ unique selling proposition, brand, key messages, and target audiences.
Women Owned Business
As women in business we see ourselves through our own eyes by looking in the mirror. But hearing what others see in us, is empowering. It’s really public relations and personal branding at the core.
When you look at public relations it’s everything. It’s how you treat your employees, how you treat your family, how you treat people at religious institutions and all information you put out on social media. It goes for personal and business. PR is more than being on TV.
When Gina brings me in for photoshoots with her clients, she is having me capture the true essence of the clients. PR is getting to the core and essence of who that client is. The PR piece goes across the gamut whether it is the visual touch point or the written word, it matters.
That is PR at its core. Not just understanding who the various audiences are, but what is beneficial for the audiences.
The First Phase
Gina comes from a long line of attorneys. She began her law career in litigation but quickly moved to media and public relations.
Her degree in communications and international business from Drexel paved the way for career transition into PR.
The transition to opening her own business occurred when her daughter, as an infant, was ill. She made the decision that family was first and she built her business around her life in Bucks County.
The Second Phase
Furia Rubel Communications was launched on Gina’s birthday and she ran with it. Eighteen years of success later Furia Rubel is thriving.
When Gina started her own business, she made a lot of mistakes, but she also did a lot of things right. Her recommendation to anyone starting a business is to hire the people who do what you are not an expert at.
Use the time you are delegating for new business development.
Furia Rubel is a Women Owned Business. There are benefits to having a Women Owned Business Certification. Companies that have diversity initiatives that require them to offer bids out to women owned or minority owned companies. If the proposals are the similar and the quality is the same, companies may make the final decision on the status of being Women Owned. There are definitely benefits.
Crisis management is another expertise that Gina holds.
PR tips
Transparency
No matter the situation, positive or negative, transparency is important. It’s important to be honest and transparent right down to the fact that you need help.
PR and Perception
During a time of crisis, be a resource for people. Don’t sell, it will fall on deaf ears. Send positive messages. Use technology tools and continue to be a positive resource.
Authenticity
Authenticity is a value to live by. Transparency, especially during a crisis, is important. Be transparent about how your business is changing or how the crisis is affecting your business.
Finding humanity and Grace
When in crisis, look for the positive, the humanity and grace that gives us hope for the future. Be willing to be agile as approach the changes openly.
Get the Word Out
During a time of crisis, your normal messaging isn’t what the media wants. The media wants to hear about the creativity with how you are handling the situation.
Timing is everything. It is really about creating and building relationships and being a good resource. Sometimes it is about asking someone else to share your story.
Stories are...
Every effective marketing strategy begins with a personal brand
The Robyn Graham Show - Success without Social - Life and Business Growth Strategies for Christian Women, Coaches and Service Providers
08/15/23 • 19 min
The truth is, every effective marketing strategy begins with a unique personal brand. The reason is, you must control the perception others have of you. And that means you must differentiate yourself to build trust and stand out.
Every effective marketing strategy begins with your who, what, when, where, and howTo create an effective marketing strategy map out your who, what, when, where, and how. Let's break them down.
- Who is your soulmate client? In addition, who are you? Both are significant when creating an effective marketing strategy. If you don't know what differentiates you you can't effectively communicate with your soulmate clients to tell them about why they should hire you. Likewise, if you don't know your soulmate client, you won't be speaking to those people who need your expertise and will want to hire you.
- What are your soulmate clients' major pain points that you can help resolve? Can you define what keeps them up at night? What are they thinking about when doing the dishes or getting dressed that they cannot solve themselves? But you can and in a unique way. In addition, what platforms are they using to search for the information they need to get the results they want? What platforms are you creating content for? Is there an overlap? What changes do you need to make to reach your soulmate clients?
- When are you available to serve your clients? Elaborate on when they need you most and when you learned how to provide the solution they need. Likewise, when have you experienced their pain points yourself? Even more importantly, when and how did you overcome them?
- Where in your journey have you experienced what your soulmate clients are experiencing now - the beginning of your journey or more recently? Where do you serve your clients, in person, online, locally, or internationally? In addition, where will you market to your soulmate clients? Where are they researching to find the solution to their problem(s)? For example, if you are an entrepreneur who doesn't want to be on social media, where will you share information, on your blog, via email marketing? This is where SEO will become a key component of your effective marketing strategy.
- Why do you do what you do? Is there a reason you help whom you help? Simon Sinek explains using his golden circle that why is more important than how and what. That people resonate more with why you do what you do than what you do or how you do it.
- How do you help your soulmate clients get the results they crave? Do you have a proven method or system? Likewise, how do you do what you do? Elaborate on your background, skill sets, education, certifications, awards, life experiences, and mistakes you've learned from, etc. that help you help others. In addition, testimonials help elaborate on how you've helped others get their desired results.

You need passion and strategy to create success with Morgan Hancock
The Robyn Graham Show - Success without Social - Life and Business Growth Strategies for Christian Women, Coaches and Service Providers
03/28/23 • 38 min
If you want to start a business you need passion and strategy to create success. Likewise, if you want to create a successful non-profit organization you need a combination of passion and strategy.
Using a state staple to create a successful non-profit organizationBourbanism is a culture. Kentucky is also an influential and thriving art culture.
"Ninety percent of the world's bourbon is made in Kentucky. One hundred percent of the world's good bourbon is made in Kentucky." - Morgan Hancock
The gift of creativityRobyn emphasized that everyone has innate creativity but the reality and chaos of life often suppress creativity. When we tap into creativity, our brain releases positive endorphins. It's very therapeutic. Creativity allows us to be more creative in our work as well as more pleasant in relationships.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs - five needs we innately have as human beings:- Physiological (food, water, shelter)
- Security (safe from harm)
- Sense of Belonging (community, friendship)
- Self-esteem (respect, recognition)
- Self-actualization (realization of unique ability/talents)
Creativity and art help to satisfy three of these needs: self-actualization, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging.
Bourbon with Heart supports artists and these three needs while creating opportunities to give to and support organizations that help provide the physiological and security needs of various populations throughout Kentucky.
Why you need passion and strategy to create successMorgan shared a quote that her boss when she was in high school shared with her, "you owe it to your philosophy to learn how to win." - unknown
This quote has been a guiding source for Morgan to follow her passion, become a leader, and create a successful non-profit.
Passion is important, and is a driving force for creating. However, you must also know how to win, which means employing business strategies to succeed. It takes business acumen and strategy in addition to passion for overall success.

If you want to be healthy, adopt sustainable habits. Here's how. with Janet Omstead
The Robyn Graham Show - Success without Social - Life and Business Growth Strategies for Christian Women, Coaches and Service Providers
03/21/23 • 33 min
When you adopt sustainable habits you can create sustainable change in your life, mentally and physically. Best of all, you can create sustainable habits without feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.
If you have felt stuck or like you are struggling in any area of your life, it may be time to adopt sustainable habits for a healthier version of yourself.
It’s time to playMany times, especially once we hit mid-life, we feel something, go to the doctor, and he or she gives us a laundry list of things to do. This is overwhelming and oftentimes, things are forgotten, or it feels impossible to keep up with them.
Janet uses her PLAY method to help people adopt sustainable habits to create sustainable change in their lifestyles.
Robyn emphasized that people often use anxiety or hormones as excuses. Maybe symptoms or feelings are related to these, but they aren’t excuses. You must take action to navigate them instead of staying stuck using them as excuses. You can’t overcome struggle without action.
What is PLAY and how to use it to adopt sustainable change and create sustainable habits?PLAY stands for Please Look After Yourself.
Janet suggests that when change is necessary, start with your vision. What is the vision you have for yourself for your future? She mentioned the 5 Why’s, which were also referenced in episode 224 when talking about problem-solving with Sarah K. Ramsey.
Janet emphasized that when you are aligned with your vision and your why, you can create sustainable change.
Your vision and your why are important when you want to adopt sustainable change Identifying your vision and your why is the first part of the PLAY method. Second to identifying your vision and your why is recognizing that you do not have to go to a gym.Janet referenced the Blue Zones by Dan Butner. One of the things that Dan discovered is that people who lived the longest and healthiest never went to a gym. They simply incorporated movement into their day. This is natural and playful. For example, gardening is a form of movement and is playful.
The minimum amount of movement everyone needs is 20 minutes a day or 150 minutes a week – this recommendation is the bare minimum to fight chronic disease.
If you are struggling go back to when you were a kid and what you enjoyed doing. Robyn referenced using the same concept to tap into creativity.
More on living a healthy lifestyle.
The third part of PLAY is to keep it simple.Janet believes that when you are healthy and playful, life is better.
She is also the author of The Playbook, How to Get in the Habit of Good Health.

353. Client Retention Strategies to Increase Profitability with Katrina Scarlett
The Robyn Graham Show - Success without Social - Life and Business Growth Strategies for Christian Women, Coaches and Service Providers
10/15/24 • 28 min
Many entrepreneurs wonder why their revenue is not increasing. They often blame sales and marketing. Why? Because they are not making meaningful connections when investing in marketing and sales strategies. There is a hidden key to increasing profitability: client retention strategies. Enhancing your customer's experiences lays the foundation for improving profitability.
Understanding Client Experience vs. Customer ServiceClient experience refers to a customer's comprehensive journey while interacting with a business. It includes every touchpoint, from initial awareness to post-purchase follow-up. Within this broad framework, customer service represents the actions taken to support and nurture clients directly. Excellent service is crucial for client retention, ensuring clients feel valued and connected rather than just a data point in a system.
The Five Pillars of Client Experience- Culture: An organization's client-centric culture is foundational. Leaders must prioritize placing the client's needs at the forefront of business strategies.
- Service: Exceptional service involves consistent support and genuine interactions that foster trust and satisfaction.
- Offers: Businesses should ensure their offerings are aligned with client needs, providing meaningful solutions that contribute to a seamless experience.
- Operations: Streamlining operations focusing on client convenience can improve service delivery. Procedures should be evaluated not only for efficiency but also for their impact on the client journey.
- Journey: A holistic approach to client experience keeps clients engaged with the brand beyond immediate transactions. A positive journey encourages longevity and advocacy.
Personal branding is integral to the client experience, impacting lead generation and retention. Aligning brand values with client expectations builds trust, fostering deeper relationships. This connection endures beyond the buying process, encouraging referrals and organic growth.
