Christmas Podding: Day 6 – The Great Yorkshire Pudding Debate
12/06/24 • 2 min
Welcome back to the We Do Grotto, where today we’re tackling the big questions – the kind that could divide a room and shake up the festive season. Ready? Should Yorkshire puddings be part of Christmas dinner?
Here’s the verdict:
Yorkshire puddings with Christmas dinner? One of us would have them with Frosties if allowed (yes, really). Bigger is definitely better when it comes to these golden beauties.
Pigs in blankets? The undisputed champion of the Christmas plate – no debate necessary.
Sprouts? Overcooked and ignored no longer! Butter, chestnuts, bacon, pine nuts... zhuzh them up, and they’re a festive favourite.
Red cabbage, honey-glazed carrots, and parsnips? Essential supporting players for the ultimate Christmas feast.
But beyond the dinner table, Christmas is also about connection. That’s why we’re excited to introduce We Do Communities in 2025 – a space for building networks and finding like-minded people in your sector or role.

Christmas Podding: Day 5 – Networking at Christmas: Mulled Wine or Missed Opportunity?
Welcome back to the We Do Grotto! While Paddy’s mince pie marathon continues (Aldi still in the lead for now), today we’re tackling a hot topic: Christmas networking.
Is it all just mulled wine and mince pies, or could it actually be worth your time? Here’s what we think:
🎅 In-person trumps virtual. After years of Teams calls, nothing beats being in a room with real people. If you can go, make the effort.
🎅 Be selective. Think about where you are in your career and choose events that align with your goals – don’t waste time at gatherings that won’t help you grow.
🎅 Push yourself. Networking isn’t always easy (especially for the self-proclaimed grumpy ones among us), but meeting just one key person could make all the difference.
The takeaway? If it’s worth doing, push yourself to go – but if it’s not aligned with your goals, it’s OK to sit this one out. Just don’t let mince pies and mulled wine be the only thing on your December calendar.

Christmas Podding: Day 8 – Jokes, Jingles, and January Prep 🎄
Welcome back to the We Do Grotto, where we’re keeping things festive with finance recruitment tips, questionable Christmas jokes, and classic holiday tunes.
First up, George’s topical Christmas joke:
What did the farmer get for Christmas?
A cow-culator.
We’ll let you process that one... 🐄 + 📊 = 🎅
Next, the big debate: favourite Christmas songs.
🎅 Michael Bublé’s Christmas album is the go-to for morning cheer – because Christmas is his finest hour.
🎅 Wham! Last Christmas is for the unapologetic cheese-lovers.
🎅 Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You – no one does December domination better.
🎅 The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York – a timeless classic for late-night festivities.
But it’s not all fun and games – December is also the perfect time to prepare for a strong start in January. Here’s our advice for candidates:
✨ Take a break. Rest, recharge, and spend time with loved ones.
✨ Refresh your CV and LinkedIn. Update your profiles and get ready to stand out.
✨ Get ready to hit the ground running. Use the quiet moments now to set yourself up for success in the new year.
Enjoy the holidays, but don’t lose sight of the opportunities January brings.
