02/05/24 • 57 min
Ever dreamt of managing your own sprawling ranch, raising cattle, and living off the land? While the romance of ranch life is undeniable, becoming a professional ranch manager requires grit, dedication, and a whole lot of know-how. In this episode, join Jared Sorenson and Dan Leahy as they pull back the curtain on the exciting and challenging world of ranch management.
ABOUT THE GUEST:
Dan Leahy has worked exclusively in resource management since 2005. Beginning with mineral exploration projects in Alaska and the lower 48 states, he eventually specialized in ranches. Dan has personally managed four ranches in Oregon, California, Texas, and Wyoming. His clients now include numerous confidential investment ranch owners. In 2018 he established Foundation for Ranch Management, specifically to research the phenomenon of professional ranch management in the western US. Some 80+ professional ranch managers have contributed to this research. They lead ranches such as Roaring Springs Ranch, Winecup Gamble Ranch, IX Ranch, and the Little Jennie Ranch. Foundation for Ranch Mangement facilitates apprenticeships in ranch management, promotes population based dietary health science, and the freedom to produce food, fiber and minerals essential to National security.
