Did you know that every year 6 million men in America suffer from depression, but male depression often goes under-diagnosed? Are you aware that nearly 1 in 10 men experience anxiety or depression but less than half seek treatment? Furthermore, 1 in 5 men develop alcohol dependency during their lives and, according to the National Alliance on Mental Health, suicide is the third leading cause of death for black men ages 15-24.
June is recognized as Men’s Health Awareness Month and that includes mental health, too. So, join me as Certified Life Coach and podcaster Sam Webber shares his road to mental health wellness, explains why he decided to put himself first in getting the support he needed, and describes how men can take practical steps towards ending the shame and taking courageous steps in sharing their mental health journeys.
