In this episode, @tete.depunk and I interview C E Hoffman, the author of "Sluts and Whores."

“Sluts and Whores” is C’s debut collection of short stories and poems that challenge negative stereotypes of sex workers via a dark magical landscape. It was published by Thurston Howl Publications in 2021.

This powerfully-written collection is nearing its one-year anniversary so we’re going to discuss what it means to be successful. C covers how they’ve come to define success since publishing their work, while me and Tete touch on how Tapas has helped us define success. We also touch upon the ups and downs of publishing and promotions.

We explore how to get published in the following episode: https://youtu.be/pfftFOmG1Tc

Check out C's website here: https://cehoffman.net/

Buy "Sluts and Whores" through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other stores! Just Google "Sluts and Whores C E Hoffman" and you should be able to see other places you can buy the book.

Tete got some new Superman comics (Golden Age canon), so we decided to flip through them (this time in detail) and talk about our impressions of some of the artwork and themes covered and how it compares to Silver Age and other things!

Short version of this flipthrough can be seen here: https://youtu.be/FRTfmVRDf0U

The Nuts and Bolts of Writing - EP 94: Writing Contemporary Fiction (2): "Equilibrium Point"
play

11/15/21 • 25 min

Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/qduZ3SlYCeM

On this episode of The Nuts and Bolts of Writing, @fortunusgames and @helevorn_bor will be discussing Helevorn's novel "Equilibrium Point" for the first time!

"Equilibrium Point" began as a challenge, as an Alternative History (AU) version of Helevorn's Viking Age novel "Lucky Wolf", but then developed into a stand-alone novel set in present day Norway. Less dramatic, more realistic, deeper from a psychological standpoint, "Equilibrium Point" is a slice-of-life story that explores new themes and puts the characters in situations we haven't seen them in.

Can an AU be a deep and complex story? What do you think?

In this episode, @tete.depunk and I, @fortunusgames, explore how a 2016 roleplay between Ardalion and Natalia changed her views on male sexuality. Needless to say, the role play was a pivotal turning point for her, because it transformed her entire outlook on male sexuality in broad terms and in very specific terms. Prior to the role play, Tete had a lot of misconceptions and misinformed biases which led her to create, in her words, "stilted and soulless characters steeped in idealism, like innocent fairy tales, not actual human souls." Here, we explore how the role-play came to be!

Part One of an audio roleplay of the short story that @tete.depunk and @fortunusgames wrote for Halloween 2021, "The Soul's Landscape." Read it here.

It's about what happens if Fortunus Games' Joel chooses to stay a self-denier for the rest of his life...and what happens when Tete's Kai Haldersen comes knocking on his door.

Joel is from Fortunus Games' graphic novel, "The Book of Joel," which you can read here: https://www.fortunusgames.com/current-projects

Kai is from @tete.depunk's upcoming series, "Death and the Midwife." He'll also be in a story set in 19th century Norway, called "Union of Wave and Shore."

The Nuts and Bolts of Writing - EP 141: Reviewing Henrik Ibsen's "Hedda Gabler" - with R.N. Roveleh
play

03/13/22 • 48 min

Watch on YouTube.

Today, me and Helevorn (IG: @helevorn_bor) talk about one of her favorite plays, "Hedda Gabler" by Henrik Ibsen.

We cover the following questions:

1. Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, published in 1890, is considered to be one of the masterpieces of realist literature and of drama, in general. The title character, Hedda Gabler, is seen as a female Hamlet through the force and depth of the character. Can you begin by summarizing the plot?

2. What are the themes of the play?

3. What’s Hedda Gabler like?

4. Like other female characters of Ibsen’s, Hedda feels stifled in her life. How is she different from Ellida (from Lady from the Sea) or Nora (from A Doll’s House)?

5. If Hedda is so “morbidly selfish”, as she’s called by critics, what are relationships to her? How does she relate to her husband, George Tesman and to Eilert Løvborg? Does she love anyone?

6. Hedda Gabler often complains about boredom. How do you explain this boredom?

7. Beauty is something Hedda talks about repeatedly. What is beauty for her?

8. Is she a narcissist? Do you see her behaviour as a hint to a pathology?

9. Which of your characters were inspired by Hedda? (Rannveig and Yngvar from "Sons of Disobedience" and "Lucky Wolf")

10. How else did “Hedda Gabler” influence you in your writings?
