The Metal Cell Podcast

It was a pleasure to welcome back Steve Hobson (drums) & Ian Booth (guitars/vocals) of Haint and Fredy Moita (guitars/vocals) of Nomadus to the show. Steve contacted me a few weeks back in relation to a charity gig he was putting on raising much needed funds for cancer charities in Northern Ireland.
Haint had been off the live circuit since last November when Ian was diagnosed with Lymphoma. It was his diagnosis, as well as others that Steve knew who were battling, or in some cases had tragically lost a battle with cancer quite recently that spurred him on to raise funds in support of Cancer Focus, Belfast City Hospital Cancer Unit and Southern Hospice Trust. I talk to Ian about his own battle from the initial diagnosis of Lymphoma to where he is now which is thankfully cancer free, we get a few updates on what to expect on the day of the gig and Fredy gives us a few updates on what Nomadus have planned in the next few months. With a fantastic line up of top NI metal bands including Owlcrusher, Nomadus, Normadic Rituals and Drakonis as well as Ian returning on stage with Haint, it is building up to be one of the best gigs of the year.

Episode 229: Metal & Art Pt.4. The role of the Tattooist featuring Ross Daly (IRL) & Marvin Silva (USA).

It was a pleasure to welcome Ross Daly (IRL) & Marvin Silva (USA) onto the show to talk about their profession as tattooists and the influence that Metal has in their lives in part 4 of a series I have done dedicated to artists that create art and love Metal. A friendship formed out of working as professional tattooists, I talk to Ross and Marvin about their love of art, how they got into the world of creating tattoos for paying customers, what inspires them and some of the music that influenced them to play in and form bands. Ross and Marvin were fantastic guests and share some hilarious stories whilst also talking about some of the many milestones they have achieved working in a profession that can often consume hours of painstaking work in a pressurised environment. I hope you enjoyed the episode and please SUBSCRIBE to The Metal Cell YouTube channel if you want to see more interviews like this. Episode 231: Dog Tired: An exclusive track by track review of their new soon to be released album 'The Red Verse' by Luke (Riffs/Vox) & Keith (Drums)..

I was delighted to welcome back Luke (Riffs/Vox) & Keith (Drums) of Dog Tired to do an exclusive track by track overview of their soon to be released fifth album 'The Red Verse'. This is literally the soundtrack to the apocalypse with riffs so intense that they sear through flesh, a heaviness that crushes and distorts the mind along with monstrous vocals that could summon the great Cthulhu! Keith and Luke walk us through all the tracks and of course there's plenty of craic as well. The Red Verse drops on Saturday 03/06/23 and the launch party is in Edinburgh on the same day.
Hope you enjoyed the episode and please 'SUBSCRIBE' to The Metal Cell YouTube Channel! Thanks, Richie.
