#271 Revealing Identity: Kim's Journey of Adoption and Self-Discovery with DJ Kimmy K
We are delighted to introduce our next guest, Kim Middleton, known affectionately as DJ Kimmy K. Our encounter takes place at the Austin Windsor branch of the public library, where Kim graciously welcomes us with her warm and gentle presence. She hails from a small Texas town, a place reminiscent of a bygone era, where coming home at the sight of street lights illuminating the neighborhood was the norm—a testament to the innocence and simplicity of days gone by.
At the tender age of 12, Kim's world was forever changed when her father revealed that she was adopted. While this revelation had been their plan all along, the message was poorly delivered, leaving Kim to grapple with a sense of betrayal and a feeling that her entire life had been a lie.
Kim's family dynamic involved a working mother and a father pursuing education, leading them from their small Texas town to Houston, and eventually settling in South Florida. Despite her Texas roots, she grew up as a Florida girl, embracing the vibrancy and diversity of her surroundings.
During her high school and college years, Kim unexpectedly stumbled into the world of radio through a journalism internship. What started as a temporary opportunity blossomed into a remarkable career. Today, she is a full-time DJ, gracing some of the most renowned venues and captivating audiences with her infectious energy. Her journey even took her to the enchanting realm of Disney World for a year.
In the midst of sharing her life's adventures, Kim opens up about a profound experience she had—an encounter with her mortality due to a brain blockage in the back of her neck. During this challenging time, she saw Jesus in the window of a passing car, enveloped by a profound sense of peace and serenity. Kim attributes this spiritual encounter to her subsequent healing and restoration.
Kim's essence shines through as a beautiful, warm, and loving individual. Her story, vibrant personality, and zest for life radiate throughout our conversation on The Jar. Join us as we have the privilege of hearing Kim's inspiring journey, marked by resilience, self-discovery, and the transformative power of faith. DJ Kimmy K brings her unique blend of music and life experiences, enveloping us in a captivating and heartfelt narrative that will leave a lasting impression on our hearts.
