February 10th, 2020 | The Hockey Betting Podcast
The latest episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast has Brian Blessing and Cam Stewart taking a look at games for Monday, February 10 and Tuesday, February 11, 2020.
The compressed schedule means plenty of action over the next two days with playoff races raging. Teams that are regularly winning games still find themselves on the outside looking in for post-season positions at the start of the week.
Listen to the latest edition of The Hockey Betting Podcast to get all of Brian and Cam’s picks.
Monday, February 10th, 2020 NHL Schedule, Betting Odds, Free Picks
Arizona Coyotes at Montreal Canadiens -136, 5.5 (TSN2 & RDS)
The Habs are 7-3 in their last 10 games after a thrilling 2-1 Saturday night overtime home win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Montreal has closed to within six points of the final Eastern Conference slot for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Arizona’s lack of offence is catching up with them now. The Yotes have won only two of their last 10 games. Cam likes the Coyotes due to a potential Habs letdown. Brain reminds us about how streaky Arizona is.
Florida Panthers at Philadelphia Flyers -135, 6.5
On last Friday’s episode (02/07/2020) of The Hockey Betting Podcast, the guys cracked hard on the Panthers lack of defence and perpetual failings each year. Florida has now dropped three in a row. In that same episode Brian and Cam also correctly picked Philadelphia in their 7-2 win at Washington Saturday night. Coach Alain Vigneault’s Flyers have won seven out of their last 10 tilts to hold the final NHL playoff spot in the East. Brian doesn’t trust either team, but Cam likes the underdog Cats.
New York Islanders at Washington Capitals -175, 6
Also on Friday’s episode (02/07/2020), Brian claimed the Islanders could win a couple of series in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, offence remains a worry on the Island. The sluggish Capitals have flopped in three of their last five to fall behind first place Boston in the East. Brian likes the Islanders to play well down the stretch but will pass after the Caps poor performance on Saturday. Cam is thinking Caps in a rebound and over the total.
Tampa Bay Lightning -167, 5.5 at Columbus Blue Jackets (NBCSN)
Coach Jon Cooper’s Bolts have exploded to win eight of their last 10 and are now just five points behind Boston. However, Columbus has also won eight of their last 10 as Elvis (Merzlikins) remains in the building and between the pipes for the Jackets. He boasts a .930 save percentage and five shutouts. This is a re-match from last year’s epic CBJ upset sweep of the top-seeded Lightning. Seth Jones is out for CBJ, and the guys agree that is a huge loss. Brian thinks the total may be too low based on over-reaction to the Jones injury. The guys agree that the prolific Lightning offence can send the game over the total. Brian doesn’t like the high price on TBL, which means puck lines might be the better route here.
Nashville Predators -120, 6 at Vancouver Canucks
Nashville’s leaky back end has put them two points out of the final NHL playoff spot in the West. The Canucks are running out of steam with four straight losses.
Listen to the Hockey Betting Podcast to hear what Brian and Cam think about this high-pressure match-up in the West. Cam has a strong play for this one.
Calgary Flames -110, 6 at San Jose Sharks
The Flames are in seventh position in the West despite being -16 in goal differential along with an NHL rank of 27th for goals scored. Calgary has lost five of their last seven but face a bad Sharks team ranked next to last in the West for goal differential along with 28th for goals scored, 26th for the power play, and 25th for goals allowed. Cam likes the Flames here.
Tuesday, February 11th, 2020 NHL Schedule, Betting Odds, Free Picks
Detroit Red Wings at Buffalo Sabres -215
On last Wednesday’s episode (02/05/2020) of The Hockey Betting Podcast, the guys correctly picked Detroit to get the money as huge road dogs at Buffalo. Will lightning strike again just one week later? Detroit has perked up with two big underdog payout wins in their last three games. The puck line could be the way to go for Sabres backers in this one. The guys will pass and say the game sucks. They also justifiably question Buffalo’s pride.
Arizona Coyotes at Toronto Maple Leafs -210 (TSN4)
Can the Coyotes generate any offence at all against a Toronto Maple Leafs team ranked 27th for goals allowed and 25th for the penalty kill? Cam likes Arizona if they lose at Montreal on tonight. Brian says Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen should return for this one but could be rusty. Cam hates the high price on TO and likes the over.
Florida Panthers -141 at New Jersey Devils
The Panthers have dropped to three points out of the final Eastern Conference position for th...

Odds at the time podcast was recorded
The Thursday NHL schedule begins with the Boston Bruins listed as a big home favorite against the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres have completely fallen apart in recent weeks, but Brian is leery of laying the big price with Boston.
The Penguins visit the Islanders in the second half of a home and home on Thursday with New York favored. Cam points out that these teams seem to alternate wins and since the Islanders took the first half, he likes the Penguins on Thursday.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are heavily favored at home against the Detroit Red Wings and Brian and Cam are passing on this game.
The Florida Panthers are big favorites at home against the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks have been going over the total on a regular basis, but Brian thinks this game will be lower scoring.
The red-hot Carolina Hurricanes are favored at home against the slumping Philadelphia Flyers. This looks like a mismatch and Cam is on the Hurricanes in this one.
Two struggling teams meet in Nashville as the Predators host the Canucks. Vancouver has lost three straight, while Nashville has dropped five in a row. The Predators are big favorites at home in this one, but Brian and Cam like the Canucks in this one.
The struggling Calgary Flames visit the St. Louis Blues with the Blues favored at home. Cam is taking a shot on the underdog Flames.
The Colorado Avalanche visit the Minnesota Wild and the line on this game is a pick. Brian and Cam think the odds on this game are a trap and Cam is not falling into taking the Avalanche. He is making a small play on Minnesota.
The Dallas Stars are rolling and they are solid favorites at home against Winnipeg. Brian and Cam have a play on the total in this one. Listen to The Hockey Betting Podcast to get their pick.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are favored on the road at Chicago on Thursday night. Brian points out that the Lightning are on the dad’s trip and he likes Tampa in this one. Brian and Cam both like the over in this one.
The Maple Leafs will look to get a road win under their new head coach, but it may not be easy against a good Arizona team. Cam is taking Toronto in what he thinks is a great spot for the Leafs.
The Vegas Golden Knights are big favorites at home on Thursday against a San Jose team that just had their six-game winning streak snapped. Brian and Cam think the price is too high on this one, but they have a stronger opinion on the total. Listen to The Hockey Betting Podcast to get their pick.
The last game on the card has Edmonton favored at Los Angeles. Brian and Cam are a little bit leery of taking the Oilers, but they want no part of the Kings.
Brian and Cam also have some thoughts on the Friday and Saturday NHL schedule. Make sure to listen to The Hockey Betting Podcast to get their picks on Friday and Saturday’s games.

Thursday, March 4, 2021 | The Hockey Betting Podcast
PROGRAMMING NOTE: ON SATURDAY MARCH 6 WE WILL PUBLISH A SPECIAL EPISODE FOR SATURDAY & SUNDAY NHL MATCH-UPS. THIS EPISODE ONLY COVERS THURSDAY & FRIDAY. The SportsInteraction promotion mentioned in this episode is: SportsInteraction.com/hipcheck
EPISODE RECAP: On this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast, Cam Stewart's prediction of more and more single-goal NHL outcomes - and underdog puck line victories - is looking better all the time. Late-week scores included four OT games, four one-goal regulation outcomes, and a Friday shoot-out in which the Chicago Blackhawks upset the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning. Calgary snapped back to form vs Ottawa in a game that didn't surprise Brian Blessing at all. The Hockey Betting Podcast also nailed the problems between the pipes for Vegas, as tired netminder Marc-Andre Fleury took a break on Friday only to watch Swedish goaltender Oscar Dansk give up four goals. Max Pacioretty led the Golden Knight attack with three points as Vegas prevailed 5-4 in OT and the game easily blew-away its "Vegas" total. Toronto got lost in the scenery of Vancouver, and St. Louis beat Los Angeles without Vlad Tarasenko, yet another pair of moneyline wins for Cam. Listen to this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: The March 4, 2021 episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast opens on a serious note, but it's not the end of an era. Puckheads Brian Blessing and Cam Stewart lament a long history of close misses on PGA golf betting with Cam typecast as the perpetual bridesmaid on a recent streak of second place PGA picks. Meanwhile, in spite of Brian’s warning, the guys decide to cut this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast in half and plan to produce a special Saturday/Sunday episode for this weekend’s huge slate of NHL games. The guys take a stand for 50-year-old slang minted by Don Cherry, and "Grapes" isn't what Brian sees inside the jerseys of soft NHL teams. Who is tough enough to make an omelette in the league? Dylan Cozens steps up Yukon tough, and the guys explain where to find the best hip check in NHL betting. Listen to The Hockey Betting Podcast for all of Brian and Cam’s colorful hockey analysis, expert NHL betting advice and free NHL picks.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Chicago Blackhawks

Thursday, May 6, 2021 NHL Betting Lines, Analysis, Picks
New Jersey Devils at New York Islanders
Can anyone trust the New York Islanders after what happened in Buffalo? Somebody sure does, with the Isles' moneyline actually thinning beyond a consensus (-240) at various NHL betting books.
New York Rangers at Boston Bruins
The New York Rangers have played their way out of Stanley Cup contention, and oddsmakers predict the Bruins to ambush the Rangers. Boston Bruins (-1.5) stands at (Even) odds for a faceoff with a steady (5.5) O/U total.
Buffalo Sabres at Pittsburgh Penguins
A rising O/U total (6) highlights a game for which gamblers are not biting on Buffalo after watching the Sabres earn two fat money line wins against the Isles. Pittsburgh's line to win has swelled to (-350) with early shifting.
Chicago Blackhawks at Carolina Hurricanes
The (6) goal total is falling for Thursday's faceoff in Raleigh, but that doesn't mean bookmakers don't think the Hurricanes (-310) will dismiss the eliminated Chicago Blackhawks.
Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs
Finally, an NHL underdog's recent handiwork shines through on the hockey odds board, as bettors pass on the Montreal Canadiens (+190) following the Habs' latest debacle in Ottawa.
Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers
With the Vancouver Canucks preparing to walk the plank for the dumbest series of NHL games ever, the solid Edmonton Oilers are a (-260) money line favourite to win and keep the pressure on North Division-leading Toronto.
Friday, May 7, 2021 NHL Betting Lines, Analysis, Picks
Detroit Red Wings at Columbus Blue Jackets
National-team scouts will be thick in an otherwise restricted Friday crowd in Ohio. It might not be a barrel of laughs for the laptop brigade, with a Columbus vs Detroit O/U total reaching Dante's barrel-bottom at (5) goals.
Philadelphia Flyers at Washington Capitals
Washington Capitals money lines of (-195) are strangely steady for a club that's still three losses away from potentially finishing fourth in the East Division. Perhaps NHL bettors are more focused on the Caps' (-1.5) puck line, or on a shrinking (6) goal total.
Dallas Stars at Tampa Bay Lightning
Most handicappers would agree the Dallas Stars are desperate compared to Tampa Bay (-165), but effort can only take a team so far on its own. Five games of lost and dropped points brings the Stars to a must-win scenario in Florida.
Anaheim Ducks at Minnesota Wild
Minnesota has surprisingly lost two in a row at home. Is it time for the guys to hold up a stop sign on another heavily-juiced (-275) favourites' market against the dead-in-the-water Anaheim Ducks? Or will Cam and Brian argue for a parlay-play on a team that's bound to rebound?
St. Louis Blues at Vegas Golden Knights
The St. Louis Blues are surging to the finish line and outplaying common opponents of the Vegas Golden Knights (-165), but the public still likes Friday's host to prevail straight-up.
Colorado Avalanche at Los Angeles Kings
NHL speculators are less enthused about Colorado's puck line (+100) on Friday, even against the L.A. Kings, who checkmated themselves out of a Stanley Cup bid with another slump late in the season.
Arizona Coyotes at San Jose Sharks
The Arizona Coyotes will play their final two games of the year in San Jose. With no hope of a playoff bid, will the Coyotes go through the motions, or play loose and easy pond hockey to help cover a (5.5) total?

The only thing I would say from a cautionary, “buyer beware” tale: You’re right. Their defencemen: they’re long in the tooth. Cam - these guys are fresh as daisies right now! So, they’re not old guys that were worn down over 82 games; they’re old guys with experience that are fresh. . . that’s just a cautionary tale. . . There are 12 games on the NHL schedule for Tuesday, including a match-up between the two hottest teams in the NHL, as the Vancouver Canucks visit the Tampa Bay Lightning. Both teams come into the contest on 7-game winning streaks. Listen to the latest edition of The Hockey Betting Podcast to get all of Brian and Cam’s picks.
January 6th, 2020 NHL Betting Schedule
Edmonton Oilers at Toronto Maple Leafs
The Leafs are a -215 favourite with a total of 6.5. This price seems really high, but the Leafs are 9-0-1 in their last ten games.
Winnipeg Jets at Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens are listed as a -140 favourite, with a total of 6.5.
Colorado Avalanche at New York Islanders
The Islanders are home underdogs in this one, with Colorado listed at -125 with a total of 5.5.
Columbus Blue Jackets at Los Angeles Kings
The line on this game is a pick, with a total of 5.5. Brian and Cam like this game to go over the total.
January 7th, 2020 NHL Schedule
Vancouver Canucks at Tampa Bay Lightning
This is a match-up between two red-hot teams, as they both come in on 7-game winning streaks. Both teams have moved into a playoff spot in their respective conferences, so this should be an exciting contest and Brian and Cam think it could go over the total.
Arizona Coyotes at Florida Panthers
The Coyotes have won three straight, but they will be listed as road dogs in this game against the Panthers. Brian points out that Arizona is beginning a road trip and he is backing the Coyotes to start out the trip with a win.
New York Islanders at New Jersey Devils
The Islanders have lost their last two games, but they are road favourites in this contest against the Devils.
Ottawa Senators at Washington Capitals
The Capitals have won two straight while the Senators have dropped four in a row. The Capitals will be big home favourites in this one.
Philadelphia Flyers at Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes are coming off a bad loss to Tampa Bay and Cam thinks they will bounce back with a big win against the Flyers. This is a really bad spot for the Flyers, as they are completing a long road trip against a Carolina team in a bad mood.
Colorado Avalanche at New York Rangers
This is a tough spot for Colorado, as they are in a back-to-back, as they played the Islanders on Monday. Listen to the latest edition of The Hockey Betting Podcast to get Brian and Cam’s thoughts on the Rangers.
Montreal Canadiens at Detroit Red Wings
This one is ugly, as the Canadiens have dropped five in a row, while the Red Wings have lost two straight.
San Jose Sharks at St. Louis Blues
The Blues have cooled off and they come into this game on a 3-game losing streak. They will be listed as solid home favourites in this game against the Sharks.
Boston Bruins at Nashville Predators
The Bruins have lost three in a row, but Nashville hasn’t played that great recently, going 5-5 in their last ten games. Cam is looking at taking the Bruins in this contest.
Calgary Flames at Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks have won 7 of their last 10 games, but the Flames come into this game on a two-game winning streak.
Pittsburgh Penguins at Vegas Golden Knights
The banged up Penguins will be road underdogs on Tuesday against a Vegas team that has won four straight.
Columbus Blue Jackets at Anaheim Ducks
This is a back-to-back for the Blue Jackets, as they were in Los Angeles on Monday night against the Kings.
Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 NHL Schedule
Winnipeg Jets at Toronto Maple Leafs
This should be a high scoring game between two teams that don’t play much defense and Cam likes this game to go over the total.
Washington Capitals at Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers are in a back-to-back and they are playing their first game at home after a long road trip.
Dallas Stars at Los Angeles Kings
The Stars have won four straight and they will be listed as road favourites in this contest against the Kings.

Cam said that Carolina is going to win their game against Ottawa, but he doesn’t like laying the big price, so he is looking at making a parlay or simply laying the goal and a half with the Hurricanes. Brian and Cam point out that the Washington Capitals are playing a high scoring style of hockey and that playing the over in Washington games is the way to go right now.

Cam also said that he will be putting Montreal into a lot of his parlays, as the Canadiens host the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Brian is looking at playing the total on the game between Colorado and Winnipeg. Cam leans to Colorado and the game over the total. Brian and Cam also consider the game between Nashville and Vancouver, with the Canucks suddenly struggling, having lost four straight.
